The DataPilot website is less than informative about the support features of the a670

Do those icons mean that it supports ring tone and image transfer, and of course phone book, data uplink (whatever that does)?

Just wondering for clarification purposes...

Future Dial (Snap) and DataPilot both recognize the vi660 and do data and phone list transfer. What they don't do is pictures and ringers (graphic and sound file transfers)

If you have an answer for this one I'd like to hear it.

You don't need to buy anything but a USB data cable to get ringtones, pictures, games, and apps to your Samsung SPH-A660.

I've posted a guide here:
http://home.comcast.net/~jna03/a660/
which describes how to use the free BitPim software with this phone.

hey there I went to that site and got everything. then i tried to put a game on the phone. not sure if i have the right type of game. i went to ranova.org, and got a game out of their samsung java midlets. then tried to put it on the phone.. it didn't work. it says delete the armstry or whatever. when i do that and reboot the phone. all my stuff is gone, except the phonebook. cause i had some wallpaper and ringtones on there. luckly i backed up... but that game stuff i was unsuccessful in doing. i'll try a ring tone and then wallpaper later... but help would be grateful. thanks.

Has anybody gotten the information on the site mentioned by silicon above to work with ringtones? I followed everything, and it seemed to go smoothly, however when it rebuilt the registry it didn't recognize any of the ringtones I had uploaded. In fact, at that point it didn't even recognize the one ringtone I had previously downloaded legit from Bell. I deleted the 3 custom ringtones I had tried to install, deleted the registry and when it rebuilt it recognized the legit ringtone again.

Is it perhaps a problem that I had the legit ringtone? Maybe they all have to be self supplied? Shouldn't make a difference it seems.

i got the data cable from radio shack and tried using bitpim to upload some ringtones. It didn't work. Every time, i'd delete the registry and reboot, then everything was gone. icon_ermm.gif

The only thing I did get to work was using this (http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/) phone uploader thing. It works great, but I want to be able to do it with the stinkin' $30 cable i bought...

Glad to see this topic isn't dead

Hell all. people who have replied after me, i have tried numerous time to do the A660 crack. does not work...... unless u can find out a way to make the files as the following _gcd, _jad,_jar.... when i try to make the files they always come out as _jar.jar anyway to make it _jar... looks as silcon or whatever his name is would come and help. or maybe there is no way to do this with the cable. best thing to get is polyphonic wizard, also for games you have to get compatible games for your phone.. which has been hard.. i've gotten ds poker and ds blackjack off of tagtag.com.. a few other things work too. anyways if anyone is successful in making the cable work i'd like the help and direction on how u do it... well bye again. hope we will be able to figure this out.

I got my data cable from eforcity.com through eBay and after installing it was very dissapointed because there was no software to be found that would recognize my phone. Finally I realized the problem was not with the phone or software it was the supplied drivers. Weird things were happening. If I plugged the data cable into one of my USB ports the phone would be recognized as a CDMA modem on COM3. If I plugged the cable into another USB port my PC would see the phone as a composite serial device or something like that. Using both setups I tried to connect to my phone using EasyGPRS (the program that the eforcity website will work with the phone), PCLink 2000 (I found an english version of this on Don's geocities website from this forum) DataPilot and some FutureDial software. None of them would recognize my phone.

However, after updating the DataPilot software which I found to be the only software to support the phone directly in the program, I used DataLink's USB drivers instead. Now my phone is recognized as BOTH a Samsung CDMA modem as well there is a USB virtual serial port in my device manager. I was able to connect to my phone with DataPilot and download, edit and upload my address book. The DataPilot software says it does not support any other features other than the contacts.

I have now tried EasyGPRS with these new drivers and the software will connect to the phone but is unable to read any messages.

PCLink 2000 will try to connect to the phone but just hangs at the connection screen.

The FutureDial's website says that the "Samsung VI660" is supported which apparently is the same as the SPH-A660 but within the software itself the phone is not listed and is unable to detect my phone.

All in all I guess the DataPilot software is the only one I could get to connect to my phone. It supports the features it says it does (which is only the phone book manager) and nothing more. I cannot get images or melodies onto my phone, yet.

**EDIT: I finally realized people are having trouble finding the software because I USED THE WRONG NAME! It is not DataLink, it is DataPilot. Sorry for the extreme confusion.

DOES THIS SOFTWARE WORK WITH THE SAMSUNG A670? AND IF SO WHERE CAN I FIND THIS PROGRAM: please email me at zlock@sympatico.ca
