Note that my guide is made for serial adapters. USB adapters usually have some sort of software that automatically installs the adapter OR you'll get a guide on what to do (alongside with your adapter of course).

What I've said is that you can't send such from MOBILE TO PC. And when you have a phone with a camera, and don wanna pay for getting each pic on yor PC via e-mail, then you're in deep sh*t. And I really was in a similar situation, and this topic's for warning people of this. |
You can't send from the phone, but you can pull from the
computer. And that's a far better way of doing it.
- Install the software that came with the cable.
- On the PC: open the explorer, and look for your phone.
(It's at the bottom somewhere.)
- Select the pictures you'd like to copy to your PC, and
pull them to your directory of choice.
If you hold down the Shift key, you'll delete the pictures
from your phone in the same operation.
This way you can load all the pictures in your phone
onto your computer, and delete them from the phone,
in as much work as you'd use sending one single
picture from the phone.
And you don't actually need the cable for doing this,
it work with ir as well - when the software is
properly installed.

It probably works for you because your phone has the abilty to sync and has a more decent software version etc. But most people don't have smartphones like you do. But of course, this topic wasn't meant for P800 or P900 users etc. But if you were using your SyncStation, then I think we even have a bigger misunderstanding here, coz the P800 CAN send any sort of files two-way with syncing...

Hi, I have a T610, and when i try to record voice memo's it works fine, but when I try to record during a conversation (one of the phone's many fine features) it doesn't work, it comes out sounding garbled like somethign played in fast forward. any thoughts or similar experiences anyone?

Hi Ganxta B
Thank you for this thread...it's longer than you thought it would be, isn't it?
Even after all these posts, and yes, I do fully and completely understand the simple, cautionary message you were trying to send, I still have a question.
Can I send pictures taken with the Communicam to my PC over IrDA from my T300
I only ask because I still have a few days left during which to return the phone, and in this thread the only specific mention of the T300 seems to be speculation. Does anyone know for sure?
Again, thanks for the sticky...I've been searching for a long time.
Cheers Tony

Hey! Somebody erased one of my replies, and make me look an absolute idiot with my 499 posts... Hehe, nice joke. But back to the topic, first things first:
The problem is that I have no idea why that recording sounds rubbish kaltenmeier, but if we want to blame something, then it would be best to do so with your firmware... Try to ask some fellas in a nearby SE center. Probably they'll have an idea.
To be honest, all I expected from this thread was a maximal number of 3 replies, nothing more, coz this really was just a warning message to mention the whats and whys around the data cable...
You can transfer stuff that way, but not directly thru the MCA-NN (10/20/25/30 and more to come in the future) of course. You'll have to first copy (or move) stuff to the phone's memory, then it's ABSOLUTELY possible for u to send yor newly made pic to your PC right away. Actually, this 256 color, 101*80 pixel display does SUCK, but it has the advantage that you dunno how good your picture is, until you watch it on the PC, so it gives you a positive (or negative ) surprise...

Has anyone had any experience with alternative data cables?
I am searching ebay and see some for $4 US and the seller claims it is the "best" alternative to the original one from Ericsson.
Here is one of the listings.. can anyone tell me if this is a legitimate cable or are these useless copies?
I'd much rather pay the $10 (after shipping) than to pay 25-40 from anywhere else.
Thanks for the info guys!
Not an advert, just linking to show example of the third-party cable!

Well, it'll suck that's for sure. Unless your phone has something like "True USB" in its feature list (eg: Z1010, Nokia 3650, 3100 and others), then two-way data flow isn't possible. Laptop IrDas really tend to be quite tasteless, and low-quality, but then I'd advice buying a cheap and reliable BT dongle once you have a T610.
