2. BACKING UP YOUR FIRMWARE (Prior to doing all these steps, take out your SIM card and make sure your phone is off).
A. Unzipped these files to a folder. Open the Optiflash.exe file and go to Options=>Settings=>Backup. Clear all the information from the Backup Range field and add the following:
(Older models)
0x00000000 - 0x00001fff
0x00004000 - 0x00ffffff
Only add this range if you want to backup your personal settings and data:
(Works only with the 2004ish phone's eg:E710)
0x01000000 - 0x01ffffff
(E720 & E730)
0x20000000 - 0x21FFFFFF
0x28000000 - 0x2FFFFFFF
(X475)
0x00000000 - 0x007fffff
0x01000000 - 0x017fffff
B. You can save the file to whatever name you want in the Save File field. The default name is Save.sre. Click OK
C. Go the Com Port tab and for the first Comp Port select the correct port that your datacable is connected to. For the second COM Port select none.
D: Go to the General tab and select Your Phone Model in the Select your Phone Model field and press OK and it should bring you back to the Optiflash - [Samsung] box.
E: Connect your phone to the datacable and click on the Backup button. Then press the power button on your phone. *Note that your phone will not be on but the program should start backing up your rom.
F. After this is done you should get a message that says "Remove Cable" in the log.
G. Detach your phone from the datacable and take out the battery for about ten seconds and put the battery on after that. Now you are ready to flash your firmware.
3. FLASHING (Firmware upgrade)
A. Go back to the Optiflash main window.
B. Than click on Browse... and select the .s3 or .sre ROM it should be in the folder where you extracted the files.
C. Make sure everything there is blank In the Reserve Memory regions. At Options=>Settings=>Flash & Verify and Click OK.
D. Attach your phone again to the datacable and press the Flash button. Then press the power button on your phone. (Note that your phone will not power on but the program should start running). This process took about 15-30 minutes on my phone. When it is done it should say "Remove Cable" in the log.
E. Detach your phone from the datacable and take out the battery for about four seconds. Then put the battery back on and power up your phone.
You are done flashing your ROM.

3. Select Bin & Nand as mode
4. BSI & T2 As model

6. Select the TFS firmware file
7. Hit Start and wait a few minutes. (If you see "Time Out!" you might have the wrong cable or the Com port settings aren't right)
TOOLBOX
This is how to backup your phone with toolbox:
1. Open Toolbox 4.3.2
2. Than go to the tab [Environ Settings] and click on the button [Auto Config] and change the port if your using another one.
3. Now go to the tab [Flashdumper] select as Target model the model of your phone than select the Main and Second Flash as Mode selection. Click on the [SAVE] button for both flashes and give it a name.
4. Make sure your phone is off and click on [START] and in a few minutes your backup is done.

Don, Thanks for your amazing guide!
I've just got my E700 from Hong Kong today. It came preloaded with E78ZCWI2. I managed to change the display language to English but the date display on the outer LCD and the inner one still shows some chinese characters. Which I dont want.
Am I correct in assuming that if I upgrade the firmware to E70AIWL1 then the date display will become English?
Cheers
Mike
P.s. Now that i've discovered this amazing forum.. i think i'll be hanging around here a lot.. hehe
