Building on the resounding success of the RAZR V3, Motorola has introduced a special-edition RAZR V3 in jet black, dubbed the BLZR. Previously showcased on CNBC by CEO Ed Zander, the BLZR was provided to the top acting and directing nominees of this year's Academy Awards.

At the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, Motorola officially announced and the SLVR L7 phone; a razor-thin block phone similar to the popular RAZR V3 clamshell.

Nokia is planning to unveil a concentrated portfolio of 3G phones at the 3GSM World Congress 2005 in France. Competing late compared to rivals, the new Nokia models are expected to include two cameras; able take photos and make video calls.

Boston officials have signed a contract to install wireless service in subways. Partnering with InSite Wireless to install the equipment, the 15-year contract provides wireless service at the Park Street, Downtown Crossing, Government Center and State Street stations as well as the tunnels that connect them.

Siemens has acquired the personality rights for Ronaldo for a period of two years. The football star will advertise for the company in commercials and advertisements until the end of the 2006 football season. In addition, Siemens has extended its sponsoring activities to Real Madrid's men's basketball team and is supporting the technical implementation of Realmadrid TV, which will be broadcast digitally worldwide.

Nokia and Macromedia today announced a licensing agreement that will integrate Macromedia Flash technology into Series 60 Platform. Series 60 becomes a reference platform for Macromedia's mobile Flash technology, and Macromedia will implement new versions of its mobile Flash technology on Series 60. Nokia has also agreed to support Flash in its other software platforms.

MasterCard is developing a SMS fraud alert system using cell phones to clear up card-usage questions. In partnership with mBlox, a mobile messaging infrastructure provider, registered customers will receive text messages should a high-risk transaction be detected, and can then either approve or block the transaction.

Nokia today introduced a new product for secure mobile contactless payments and ticketing. The world's first Near Field Communications (NFC) product for payment and ticketing will be an enhanced version of the already announced Nokia NFC shell for Nokia 3220 phone. It delivers the promise of NFC based services, covering service discovery, payment and ticketing.
