Skype Provides Alternative To Costly Roaming Charges

Skype, the Global Internet Telephony Company, today announced the public beta launch of SkypeIn and Skype Voicemail, two new premium services available in the latest download versions of Skype software for Linux, MAC OS X, Pocket PC and Windows platforms. SkypeIn provides an affordable, flexible alternative to costly mobile phone roaming charges with SkypeIn personal numbers. SkypeIn customers can receive inbound calls to their Skype client from ordinary fixed telephones or mobile phones while they travel worldwide, providing seamless interconnectivity without having to pay costly roaming charges. Skype Voicemail enables users to manage incoming voicemail messages, making their Skype usage more ubiquitous.

Sony Ericsson Shocks Investors With 61 Percent Profit Drop

Sony Ericsson, world's sixth largest cell phone maker, stunned investors with a 61% drop in first-quarter profits. Profit for the three months ending March 31 was Euro 32 million ($41 million), down from Euro 82 million in the same period last year.

NextWave Emerges From Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

NextWave today formally emerged from U.S. Chapter 11 proceedings. The company's Plan of Reorganization, which was confirmed on March 1, 2005, by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, became effective today upon the closing of a $3 billion sale of PCS licenses to Verizon Wireless. Pursuant to the Plan, the company has commenced distributing a portion of that transaction's proceeds and new securities to shareholders, and will continue to implement its court-approved blueprint for entering the marketplace as a provider of broadband wireless services.


Nude Photos From Vida Guerra's T-Mobile Sidekick Leaked

Amid recent T-Mobile Sidekick account hackings, the Internet has surfaced with nude photos of pinup model and actress, Vida Guerra. The former loans officer turned FHM 2003 "Girl of the Year" took self-portraits on her Sidekick that was apparently hacked into and published online. And compared to previous Sidekick account leaks from socialite Paris Hilton, Ms. Guerra's are much spicier.


Survey Shows Two-Thirds Of U.S. Households Have Cell Phones

Two-thirds of US households have at least one mobile phone, according to a new 5,600 household survey from Forrester Research. Single-phone households are currently a declining minority, and households with four or more mobile phones have grown at a rate of 57 percent in the past year.
