Sprint today announced its voice-dialing service, Sprint PCS Voice Command, is available for free to customers who are blind, visually impaired or physically disabled. The free service, which allows calls to be dialed by speaking the desired contact or phone number, also includes 10 free directory assistance calls per month. Sprint PCS Voice Command is currently available to Sprint customers for $5 a month.

Sprint has entered into an agreement with Motorola to conduct joint wireless broadband technology testing and equipment trials in 2005 and 2006 to help substantiate next generation wireless network infrastructure requirements and consumer products for future wireless interactive multi-media services.

Nextel will deploy a wireless broadband trial based on UMTS TD-CDMA technology from IPWireless, the companies announced today. The field trial will begin during the third quarter in Washington, D.C.; Arlington, VA.; Alexandria, VA.; Reston, VA. and Bethesda, MD.

This display is divided into an indicator window and a main window and the low-power consumption quality of the new technology corrects the existing imperfections of external phone screens for an elegant, "always on," indicator display that requires virtually no power.

Motorola announced today that it is acquiring key assets from British mobile handset maker Sendo. A global leader in wireless communications, Motorola is purchasing Sendo's UK- and Singapore-based research and development team and design and test equipment required by that team, as well as the company's intellectual property portfolio. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
