The FCC has recently proposed lifting the ban on cell phone usage during airplane flights. While the passage of this proposal appears to offer solutions to the wireless industry, it has spawned disapproval among some consumer groups as the potential for in-flight usage would create disturbances to passengers.

Sprint and Novatel Wireless today announced availability of the Sprint PCS Connection Card by Novatel Wireless (Merlin S620). Designed to operate on CDMA 1xEV-DO (Evolution, Data Optimized) and 1xRTT networks, the card will support broadband-like speeds when Sprint EV-DO coverage is available later this year and is backwards compatible to provide 1xRTT throughput speeds in Sprint coverage areas where EV-DO service is not yet available.
