Macromedia Develops Flash Player for BREW

Qualcomm and Macromedia today announced an agreement under which Macromedia may distribute Flash-based mobile applications developed using the BREW solution. With more than 98 percent penetration on Internet-connected desktop computers and more than 30 million Flash-enabled devices shipping, Flash enables the delivery of rich content, applications, and communications across all platforms. In addition to the agreement, Macromedia has signed on as an Elite member of the BREW Alliance Program.


Samsung Delivers Mobile Digital TV to Korea

Digital TV is quickly becoming a hot application for mobile phones, with Korean mobile phone users demonstrating a healthy appetite for watching their favorite programming anytime, anywhere. Korea is leading the way in mobile Digital TV, with DMB services already delivering TV programs to the handset, including channels dedicated to sports, comedy, news, games, music and favorite movies. Verizon Wireless Reaches 200 Million Downloads by June

From the BREW Developers Conference in San Diego, Verizon Wireless announced today that total Get It Now downloads are expected to surpass the 200 million download milestone by the end of this month. Get It Now currently contains a library of more than 500 games, productivity tools, information services, ring tone providers, wallpaper providers, an IM chat client - Mobile IM - that includes access to Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger, or AOL IM (AIM), and more.

At press conference held in Nairobi, Kenya, Nokia today introduced the Nokia Prepaid Tracker - a simple, innovative solution that lets prepaid subscribers effortlessly keep track of their prepaid balance and call expenses. After each call or transaction, details about subscribers' account balance is automatically sent and displayed on their easy-to-use Nokia phone menu. Nokia Prepaid Tracker frees prepaid subscribers from the inconvenience of having to contact the operator's customer center to check their balance.


Nokia Introduces 1110 and 1600 Low-Cost Phones in Africa

At a press conference held in Nairobi, Kenya, Nokia outlined its strategy to bring the benefits of mobility to new growth markets. Today, Nokia also introduced the Nokia 1110 and Nokia 1600 - two new mobile phones aimed at first time users and consumers in growth markets like Africa. At the same time, Nokia unveiled the Nokia Prepaid Tracker, the world's first completely networks-based solution that enables prepaid users to monitor their account balance on the handset display after each call. The Nokia 1110 and Nokia 1600 join Nokia's range of entry level phones which emphasize ease-of-use, reliability and affordability, and contain technological features which reduce the total cost of mobile ownership for consumers. Both models are expected to be commercially available during the third quarter 2005.
