Just a few years ago, the youngest wireless users were generally accepted to be college kids. Then when kids got drivers licenses they also got a cell phone. Now, according to a major new study by iGillottResearch, there are children as young as six with their own cell phones.


More Landline Users Willing to Switch to Wireless Phones

According to a new survey released today by the National Consumers League (NCL), many adults in the U.S. are purchasing a wide variety of communications services and are ready to embrace new technologies in the future: 39 percent of adults who use a landline said they are likely to give it up and use only a wireless phone at home within the next two years; and 46 percent of those who have heard of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) said it was likely that they would switch from their traditional landline service to this technology.

Verizon Wireless and Sprint Users Can Now Exchange Messages

NYC Dept of Consumer Affairs Sues Carriers for Deceptive Ads

New York City Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) Acting Commissioner Jonathan Mintz today announced the agency has filed suit in New York Supreme Court against three major wireless companies for pitching cell phones and services in deceptive advertisements that misled consumers. DCA filed suit against Nextel Communications Inc., Sprint Spectrum L.P., and T-Mobile USA Inc. seeking maximum fines and compliance with New York City's landmark Consumer Protection Law.
