Medis Technologies today announced that it has entered into a Cooperation Agreement with a broadly affiliated United Kingdom mobile telephone operator for the purposes of market testing and introduction to the market of Medis' fuel cell Power Packs as a secondary power source for portable electronic devices offered by the mobile operator. This Agreement is similar to the previously announced Agreement with a major mobile operator in the United States.

Siemens has signed an exclusive contract with Airbus to jointly develop a solution for the use of in-flight communication via GSM. Siemens will provide the GSM technology, while Airbus will take charge of its integration in the existing electronics systems. In addition, Airbus will be responsible for marketing the new solution to the airlines and for maintenance. The commercial launch of this new customer service is planned for 2006. This means Airbus will now be able to offer the customers of the airlines full-time availability while in the air.

Sprint and US Unwired today announced that their boards of directors have unanimously approved an agreement for Sprint to acquire US Unwired for approximately $1.3 billion.

U.S. Cellular today introduced SpeedTalk, a service that enables cell phones to function as "walkie-talkies" between groups of two or up to 20 people simultaneously. SpeedTalk is U.S. Cellular's first "press-to-talk" product and operates over the company's highly regarded digital network.

Cingular customers can exchange pictures and short video messages, including text and audio, with any Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Leap Wireless and US Cellular customer, who has an MMS-enabled device, as well as any email address. With Intercarrier Multimedia Messaging Service, Cingular customers have access to the broadest wireless MMS community, representing 80 percent of wireless subscribers in the U.S.

Sprint has begun launch of a new wireless high-speed data network that will provide mobile Internet access to about 150 million people in at least 60 metropolitan areas across the nation by early 2006. Sprint's new wireless high-speed data (EV-DO, Evolution Data Optimized) service, devices and applications will change how and where business is done and offer consumers an enhanced mobile multi-media experience.
