Motorola announced today that Motorola Ventures, Motorola's equity investment arm, has made a strategic investment in Tekion, Inc., a North American developer of micro fuel cells for mobile products. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Women outpaced men in purchasing ringtones by two to one during Q3 2005, reported Telephia, the leading provider of performance measurement information to the mobile industry. Sixty-nine percent of mobile ringtones were bought by women, while purchases by men comprised 31 percent of the total revenue share, according to the latest Telephia Mobile Audio report, which tracks purchase activity for mobile ringtones, including traditional ringtones, realtones, ringback tones, and voicetones. Overall, more than nine percent of the wireless population purchased a ringtone during the last quarter.

Verizon Wireless has filed suit and obtained an immediate injunction against a Florida-based private investigative agency and its affiliates to stop their attempts to fraudulently obtain confidential information about Verizon Wireless customers. The civil suit, filed November 2 in Hillsborough County, FL, charges that Global Information Group (GIG) of Temple Terrace, FL, made "thousands of attempts" to gather confidential information without proper authorization and used various fraudulent "schemes" to do so, including impersonating Verizon Wireless employees and posing as Verizon Wireless customers.

The average of the newly unveiled phones are under 15mm and offer the latest multimedia features, such as music playback capability, megapixel camera and Bluetooth connectivity. The line-ups include two 3G phones (SGH-Z510 and SGH-Z540), two slide-up GSM / GPRS phones (SGH-D800 and SGH-D820), and a credit-card size mobile phone (SGH-P300).
