Plans to bring Dilbert to cell phones were made between Namco Networks, a leading publisher and developer of wireless games and content, and United Media, a worldwide licensing and syndication company.

Opera Software today announced the worldwide release of Opera Mini, the full Web browser that runs on almost every mobile phone, including low- and mid-end handsets. Today's global launch follows the trials of Opera Mini in the Nordics and in Germany during the fall of 2005, which resulted in a user base of over one million people. Opera Mini is available free of charge via WAP download, or for a small fee via SMS.

T-Mobile USA is bringing legal action against online data brokers involved in illegitimately obtaining and selling call records. Acting under Washington State criminal profiteering laws, T-Mobile today filed suit in King County, Wash., Superior Court seeking an injunction to stop Locatecell.com, as well as related companies and individuals, from allegedly engaging in such illegal behavior.

Today, a group of the industry's leading wireless and entertainment companies announced the formation of new organization created to promote the growth and evolution of Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld (DVB-H), an open procedure standard for broadcast digital TV reception on mobile devices. A new market study from Portio Research predicts that 50% of the world's population will be using a cell phone by the end of 2009, and Africa now boasts the fastest growth rate in the world, forecast to add 265 million new mobile subscribers over the next 6 years.

Cell phones are not associated with an increased risk of the most common type of brain tumor, finds the first UK study of the relationship between cell phone use and risk of glioma. The results are published online by the British Medical Journal (BMJ) today.
The four year study by the Universities of Leeds, Nottingham and Manchester and the Institute of Cancer Research, London found those who had regularly used a cell phone were not at a greater overall risk of developing this type of tumor.

Today Sprint announced the results of its U.S. Consumer Wireless Usage Study, a nationwide survey of wireless phone users. The findings show that more than half of wireless phone subscribers (56 percent) rely on their mobile phones for features such as cameras, clocks, calendars, messaging, music and as a substitute flashlight for seeing in dark places.
