Opera today released the much anticipated Opera Mobile 8.5 Web browser for Windows Mobile Pocket PC (PPC). Opera 8.5 beta runs on Windows Mobile 2003 and 5.0, offering Opera's full and fast Web surfing experience on the full range of Windows Mobile Pocket PC devices.

The new Cingular 2125 Smartphone was introduced today in Cingular Wireless retail stores in most markets across the U.S. The Cingular 2125 is the first Smartphone-class handset in the U.S. to feature the new Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system.

Verizon Wireless announced today the launch of its online music service, VCAST Music. Offering customers the ability to download music over the air directly to their wireless phones, VCAST Music gives users immediate access to songs from well-known artists at major music labels Warner Music Group, EMI Music, Universal and Sony/BMG, as well as indie provider The Orchard. Letting consumers play music on their wireless phones, more than one million songs will be available for purchase in the Verizon Wireless VCAST Music Store by spring.

Kyocera and Nokia today announced that they have entered into a patent license agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Kyocera is licensed under Nokia's essential patents, and some additional patents, relating to CDMA, PHS and PDC standards. Kyocera will pay royalties to Nokia for all Kyocera CDMA mobile phone and module products. Reciprocally, Nokia is licensed under all of Kyocera's essential patents, and some additional patents, relating to all standards and covering all Nokia mobile phone, module and infrastructure products.
