AT&T announced an agreement to buy BellSouth for $67 billion. AT&T currently owns 60 percent of Cingular, the No. 1 wireless carrier, while BellSouth owns the remaining 40 percent. As part of the deal, AT&T would assume full control of Cingular.

Research In Motion Limited (RIM) and NTP today announced they have settled the long-running patent dispute, averting a possible court-ordered shutdown of the BlackBerry system and a disruption of wireless service for millions of users.
RIM agreed to pay $612.5 million to resolve claims that its hand-held phone and e-mail device infringed on patents held by a Virginia company.

Featuring the futuristic look of Motorola SLVR L7 on Cingular, the SLVR L6 offers an even thinner profile at just under 11 mm. Google today announced the availability of Google News for mobile devices. Google News offers quick headline updates, the ability to search current news and browse categories.
