Carnival Cruise Lines announced plans to add cell phone service to appeal to people who don't want to lose touch with work and family while away on vacation.
The service will be available on all of Carnival's 21 ships by early next year as part of a deal with Wireless Maritime Services, a joint venture of Cingular Wireless and Maritime Telecommunications Network. Only one Carnival ship, the Triumph, currently offers the service.

Nokia and Sanyo announced today that they will not be forming the new CDMA device company preliminarily announced in February.
The Finnish company said on it would pull out of CDMA phone manufacturing, which it sees as a shrinking market in the longer term. Recent developments may indicate that the CDMA emerging markets business is looking more challenging.

Sprint today signed wireless service deals with Bell Canada and Iusacell in Mexico to expand its mobile data access over international borders.
Under the reciprocal agreements, customers will be able to seamlessly access email, Internet and corporate applications in Canada and Mexico using select PCS phones, smart devices and mobile broadband cards.
