In a recent Sprint survey, findings show that 56 percent of women want to personalize their cell phone, rather than 32 percent for hairstyles.
Announcing the results of its "Women in a Wireless World" survey, Sprint concluded that women are also more interested in ringtones than men (54 percent compared to 42 percent) and are more likely to use ringtones to personalize their phone (81 percent compared to 75 percent).

Whirlpool today began testing "smart" washing machines and dryers, monitored and controled from computers and cell phones.
The pilot project, called "Laundry Time," is part of an open collaboration involving Whirlpool Corporation, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, Panasonic and Procter & Gamble.

Most cell phone users don't know the make or model of their handsets, according to a consumer research study of wireless subscribers in the U.K.
Conducted for LogicaCMG, 58 percent of users surveyed couldn't name either the make or model of their phone, over half (51 percent) were clueless to the manufacturer, and one in ten (9 percent) were oblivious to both.

Samsung today announced that it has begun mass producing an 8 GB NAND flash memory device, providing a much larger and more affordable storage density for consumer and mobile applications such as mobile phones, MP3 players and gaming consoles.

The use of Linux as a mobile operating system (OS) has been steadily growing, with an increasing number of companies announcing plans to develop Linux platforms.

Samsung today launched the SGH-P200 in the Italian marketplace, world's first Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) phone.

NTT DoCoMo and Aquafairy announced today that they agreed to jointly develop a micro fuel cell for 3G FOMA handsets. This agreement follows their successful development of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) that has proven effective in a prototype recharger.
