Alltel has announced a deal to distribute some of XM Satellite Radio's commercial-free channels over cell phones.
For a $7.99 month flat fee, customers can gain unlimited access audio streams of 20 popular commercial-free XM music channels including: The 70s, 80s and 90s decades channels, Top 20 on 20 (Top 20 Hits), Ethel (New Alternative Rock), The City (Hip-Hop/R&B Hits), XMU (Indie Rock), Bluesville (Blues), Highway 16 (New Country Hits), and Viva (Latin Pop Hits).

Baseball fans will soon be able to use their cell phones to take them out to the ballgame. Sprint Nextel today announced an agreement with Major League Baseball to make audio of radio broadcasts available to its subscribers' mobile phones for $5.99 a month.

Sprint Nextel announced today that it plans to use WiMax technology to power its next-generation high-speed wireless network.
The Sprint Nextel 4G mobility network will use the company's extensive 2.5 GHz spectrum holdings, which cover 85 percent of the households in the top 100 U.S. markets.

Nokia said today it has agreed to buy U.S.-based digital music distributor Loudeye Corp. for about $60 million. By acquiring Loudeye, Nokia can offer consumers a comprehensive mobile music experience, including devices, applications and the ability to purchase digital music.

Alltel Wireless and Melodeo today launched Axcess Mobilcast service, allowing customers to easily search and listen to thousands of podcasts on their wireless phones for a monthly subscription of $3.99.
Axcess Mobilcast offers continuously updated podcast episodes and radio shows from popular sources such as NPR and CNN, as well as thousands of independent podcasts from all over the world.
