T-Mobile today began distributing an Over-the-Air (OTA) software update for the Sidekick 3. Over the next month, the OTA update (officially called Release 3.4) will provide a variety of enhancements including the ability for T-Mobile Sidekick users to get myFaves on their device, when they choose a myFaves plan. Some of the new features and improvements include:

Samsung Electronics showcased the high-class WEP 420 Bluetooth Headset, designed by Bang & Olufsen.
To offer simplistic design and usability, the WEP 420's buttons are hidden behind a sliding cover. The special sliding cover blocks static to increase the overall sound quality. Consumers are more receptive to receiving advertisements on their cell phones, according to new findings from Harris Interactive. The study examined current levels of consumer interest in mobile phone advertisements, preferred advertising formats and the willingness of consumers to be profiled.

Verizon Wireless today announced the Novatel V740 ExpressCard, the first card to operate on Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) technology.
The V740 ExpressCard runs faster and more efficiently on Rev. A technology. Customers can take advantage of upload speeds that are eight to nine times faster than that of Verizon Wireless' existing wireless broadband network, while interacting with Web-based applications with improved latency for a better customer experience.

TiVo and Verizon Wireless today announced the availability of TiVo Mobile scheduling, a downloadable application that allows subscribers to use select mobile phones to schedule recordings on their TiVo Series2 or Series3 TiVo boxes.
TiVo Mobile scheduling uses the TiVo interface to give subscribers the ability to easily search for and browse through listings to find shows that they want to record. NBC Universal today announced it would let viewers buy full-length, prime-time television shows such as "The Office" and "Heroes" on-demand to play on mobile phones, a first for the United States.
The decision is the latest effort by media and wireless companies to entice consumers to watch video on their phones. The strategy aims to expand viewership outside the home and boost revenue for service providers beyond charging for phone calls.
