AT&T has announced that women are catching up with men in cell phone usage, according to an annual poll. After six years of men using significantly more minutes than women on average, the difference this year has narrowed to only five minutes of average talk time.

The consortium behind the Bluetooth wireless standard announced today that Nokia is contributing a technology that promises to bring the wireless connections to devices that are too small for regular Bluetooth chips.
An agreement to use the Nokia technology as the basis for an ultra low-power Bluetooth standard should help to speed its use and acceptance - rather than be a competing technology, the Bluetooth SIG industry interest group said.

The Linux Phone Standards (LiPS) Forum announced today the publication of specifications, improving interoperability across the Linux-based mobile telephony ecosystem - from software stack suppliers to mobile device OEMs to regional and global wireless operators.

CSR today announced a multi-microphone configuration for Bluetooth headsets. Incorporating a multi-microphone option, called VoiceField, the headset brings an extremely clean transmit signal in headset environments.

AT&T has announced that TeleNav Traffic now has direct access to traffic information and rerouting services, offered initially on the BlackBerry 8800, BlackBerry Pearl, BlackBerry 8700c and the new BlackBerry Curve.

Apple and AT&T Stores will begin selling the much-awaited iPhone on June 29th, according to television ads by the high-tech group.
The combination iPod, cell phone and Internet device was unveiled in January by Apple chief executive Steve Jobs.

Motorola and Sanyo tied in highest overall customer satisfaction with cell phones, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 U.S. Wireless Mobile Phone Evaluation Study.
The study found that Motorola performed particularly well in the physical design, operation and features factors, while Sanyo received high ratings in operation and battery functionality. Following Motorola and Sanyo in the rankings and performing above the industry average are Samsung and LG, respectively.
