T-Mobile today unveiled the Sidekick Slide, a messaging device with a new slide open mechanism, rather than the conventional swivel.
Designed by Motorola rather than Sharp, the Sidekick Slide will be available later this fall. With a new look and feel for the Sidekick family, the Sidekick Slide debuts a smaller design featuring a slide up QVGA screen, a compact QWERTY keyboard, full Sidekick messaging technology, and a black finish with deep purple accents.

Apple iPhone owners who have unlocked their handsets so they could use carriers other than AT&T may end up with a phone that doesn't work after the company's next software update, Apple warned Monday.
Apple executives say they have discovered many unauthorized iPhone unlocking programs available on the Internet causing irreparable damage to the iPhone's software. Now modified iPhones may become permanently inoperable with future Apple-supplied iPhone software updates installed.

Samsung Electronics said today it has agreed to develop new premium electronic products with Italian luxury goods designer Giorgio Armani. Under the business tie-up the two firms would jointly develop mobile phones, flat-screen televisions and other electronic products, it said in a statement.

AT&T and Research In Motion (RIM) have announced the BlackBerry 8820, the first cellular and Wi-Fi BlackBerry handset.
AT&T enterprise customers can use the BlackBerry 8820 with their corporate campus Wi-Fi networks for additional data coverage. Individual customers can use it in their homes and, for an additional charge, at thousands of Wi-Fi locations throughout the U.S., including any of the 10,000 AT&T-owned or branded hotspot locations in the U.S.

Deutsche Telekom's mobile phone division, T-Mobile, will sell Apple's iPhone in Germany for 399 euros ($558) each, the companies said today. Making its debut in Germany on November 9, the iPhone combines three devices into one - a mobile phone, a widescreen iPod, and a mobile Internet device - all based on Apple's multi-touch interface and software that allows users to control the iPhone with just a tap, flick or pinch of their fingers.

A study says frequent cell phone users demonstrated slowed brain function but it was still considered within normal brain functioning.
Earlier studies have mostly investigated the acute effects of cell phone use on brain function.
