Samsung today announced the launch of 'Soul,' its new flagship product for 2008. The Soul will officially make its debut during next week's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Samsung named the Soul to honor the completion of its exclusive Ultra Edition series of handsets; abbreviated for 'The Spirit Of Ultra.'

Nokia and UC Berkeley researchers today tested technology to obtain information about traffic conditions, transforming the way drivers navigate through congested highways.
One hundred cars equipped with the GPS-enabled Nokia N95, and driven by students from the University of California, traveled a 10-mile stretch of highway near San Francisco to show how real-time traffic information can be collected from the GPS feed, while preserving the privacy of the devices' owners.

Nokia today introduced a camera-free variant of the Nokia E51, the popular Eseries device aimed at business users. The new device, which features all the same functionality for businesses as the E51, was developed in response to demand from professionals who require a high-performing mobile device, but work in industries where security reasons restrict the use of cameras.

AT&T today announced plans to complete its HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access) network by the middle of the year. The AT&T 3G network now delivers typical downlink speeds ranging between 600 kbps to 1.4 Mbps, as well as faster uplink speeds, ranging from 500 and 800 kbps.
The deployment of HSUPA this year is the next step in the evolution of AT&T's 3G network, with further enhancements and speed boosts expected in the near future.

T-Mobile today announced a new software update for the T-Mobile Shadow, providing audio postcard features, free music/ringtones from popular musicians and various movie and wallpaper downloads.

Motorola's battered stock soared 10.3 percent Friday after the company signaled it may get out of its trademark mobile phone business.
