Korean electronics giant Samsung today announced the launch of Soulb, a candy-bar version of its Soul (or Spirit of Ultra) handset. Covered in an elegant metallic body, softly brushed with a hairline pattern, the Soulb's minimalistic design measures a mere 9.9mm thin.

T-Mobile today announced the availability of the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone, offering an enhanced music experience with external music controls, stereo Bluetooth connectivity, wired stereo headsets, a USB cable for side-loading music and a memory card.

Solar-powered Apple devices may be on the horizon, according to patent filings by the Cupertino-based company. The patent suggests that Apple may contemplate integrating a layer of solar cells underneath a device's liquid crystal display, possibly used in iPhones, iPods or MacBooks.

Google today showed off its Android mobile phone software system, appearing to mimic Apple's iPhone. But Google officials downplayed the notion that they will face off against the iPhone in the handset market.

Engineers have created a way to use cell phone Bluetooth signals to determine how long it takes vehicles and pedestrians to travel from one point to another. The method envisioned by engineers at the Indiana Department of Transportation offers a low-cost solution for everything from the speed of the morning commutes to the sluggishness of airport security lines.

Semiconductor maker OmniVision Technologies Inc. has developed a radically different image sensor that can squeeze many more pixels on a tiny chip, providing a significant improvement in camera-phone picture quality, it said today.

Nokia today announced an update to its Nokia Maps application, with improved car navigation, enhanced pedestrian navigation, added multimedia city guides, satellite images and a redesigned user interface.
Nokia's mapping and navigation application features local content and world maps. Using vector maps by Navteq and TeleAtlas, Nokia Maps 2.0 covers over 200 countries, with over 70 of them navigable. Japanese lingerie maker Triumph unveiled a Solar Power Bra featuring a solar panel that can generate enough energy to charge a mobile phone or iPod.
The Solar Power Bra requires a solar panel to be worn around the stomach to gather direct sunlight. The concept bra will not be in stores anytime soon, said Triumph spokeswoman Yoshiko Masuda, as "people usually can not go outside without wearing clothes over it."
The Green-colored brassiere should not be washed or worn in the rain as well.
