HTC today unveiled the Touch Pro, its newest Window Mobile 6.1 business device with 3D touch user interface, desktop-like browsing and 5-row sliding QWERTY keyboard.
The Touch Pro includes a new touch-sensitive control for device interaction. It offers advanced touch screen technology with TouchFLO 3D, HTC's 3D touch interface. AT&T today announced it has upgraded its 3G wireless network to increase downlink speeds up to 1.7Mbps, a 20 percent increase over previous top speeds.
The increased speeds are the results of recent network enhancements the company will complete by the end of the month. Verizon Wireless is close to sealing a roughly $27 billion deal to buy Alltel, the country's fifth-largest wireless carrier by subscribers, aiming to overtake AT&T as the top U.S. wireless service.
If consummated, Verizon's move would be the biggest telecom deal since AT&T bought BellSouth at the end of 2006. T-Mobile today announced it would allow subscribers to its "unlimited" calling plan to include family members for half price. Customers can add up to four additional lines to an unlimited plan for $49.99 per month each. Competitors charge full price for additional lines on unlimited plans.

Engineers have created a way to integrate Bluetooth wireless, eGPS and FM radio technologies on a single chip, reducing power consumption and improving voice quality for the growing in-car handsfree market.

Verizon Wireless today announced RemoSync, an application offering a direct push email solution. Developed by Remoba, RemoSync lets consumers who use Microsoft Exchange Servers manage their email, calendar and contacts in real-time on their phones. Direct Push Technology automatically displays email when the application is launched.

AT&T customers who have seen mysterious charges for ringtones and other content on their monthly bills may be eligible for refunds as part of a class-action lawsuit settlement.
Customers will able to claim refunds for charges that appeared on up to three of their cell phone bills between Jan. 1, 2004, and May 30, 2008, according to Jay Edelson, lead counsel for the plaintiffs. Edelson's firm has filed similar suits against Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile.

Motorola today announced the upcoming availability of Good Mobility Suite version 6.0 which will provide organizations with more secure and manageable mobile access to enterprise information and applications. Good 6.0 will let smartphone users access data and applications behind corporate firewalls.
