LG Electronics Unveils New Push-To-View Technology

Mon Feb 14, 2005 9:10 pm

The world will get its first glimpse of Push-To-View (PTV) mobile phone technology when LG Electronics, a global pioneer in 3G technology, showcases the next 3G "killer application" at 3GSM World Congress 2005.

PTV is state-of-the-art mobile technology that combines networking and multimedia, allowing multiple users to share live video in real time. Evolved from Push-To-Talk (PTT), PTV lets users select people to share live video with, transmitting an audio/video feed in real time.

PTV also offers functions similar to the Messenger chat engine. It manages user groups, checks reception, selects users for video-conferencing and controls transmission. The package has an invitation function, calling available users to conference and giving them the option of accepting or not.

"We are very proud to be the first to showcase PTV technology. LG Electronics expects this to become the next killer application, expanding 3G mobile communications services worldwide. With continuing efforts to develop innovative technology, we will strengthen our position as the unrivalled 3G technology leader," said LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company President & CEO M.H. Park.

LG Electronics' commitment to customized and localized product development has already won the company a number of world firsts, including the 3-D Game phone (SV360/KV3600), the Terrestrial DMB phone (LT1000), the Digital Qiblah Mecca Indicator phone (F7100), the Diabetes (Health Care) phone (KP8400) and the VOD camcorder phone (SV130).

At the 3GSM World Congress, LG Electronics also plans to highlight technological leadership by demonstrating leading-edge Video Telephony capabilities, Terrestrial DMB phones and 3-D Game phones.
