Jaguar Leaps Into Bluetooth Luxury With Motorola Hands-Free

Motorola and Jaguar announced the availability of the Jaguar Bluetooth system - a new hands-free in-vehicle communication system using Bluetooth wireless technology - across all Jaguar 2005 model year vehicles.
Once a Jaguar owner completes a one time "pairing" between the Jaguar Bluetooth System and a Jaguar certified Bluetooth mobile phone, they can begin experiencing the convenience of hands-free and wire-free mobile phone calls while inside the car. With the wireless link established, the phone does not need to be physically connected to the vehicle. The phone can be left in a jacket or briefcase, for instance, enabling Jaguar owners to operate the in-vehicle communication system with ease.
Motorola designed the global hands-free communication platform that can be ordered from the factory or installed at the dealership. The Jaguar Bluetooth System is custom designed for Jaguar vehicles providing drivers with the ultimate level of integration. Once a Jaguar-approved mobile phone with Bluetooth wireless technology seamlessly connects with the Jaguar Bluetooth System, dependent on phone being used, the contact names and numbers from the mobile phone are downloaded into the system. Utilizing the integrated steering wheel and audio system controls, the driver can answer a call, scroll through phonebook entries where applicable or initiate a call. A Jaguar owner can also choose an optional voice recognition feature that enables the driver to place or receive calls with simple voice commands.
When a call is received by the Jaguar Bluetooth System, the name of the caller or phone number is displayed to the driver and the car stereo is automatically muted. If the driver chooses to accept the call, it is broadcast through the audio system inside the car. The system is specifically tuned to each vehicle and features Motorola's advanced noise reduction and echo cancellation technology to deliver the optimal experience, so all calls are clear and background noise is minimal.
The Jaguar Bluetooth System is certified to work with a selection of Bluetooth enabled mobile phones.

Just took delivery of an S Type today with the Bluetooth pack and I'm having lots of trouble getting my RAZR V3 to work properly.
Pairing the Jaguar bluetooth and the phone was a doddle and I seem to have no problem with inbound calls, but every time I try to make an outbound call, it transfers to the call back to the cellphone and I can't hear anything on the Jaguar system.
I guess as this is a pretty new product, getting support is going to be tricky, but if anybody can offer any advice I'd be very grateful.
Regards
Jonathan

Well, I'm staggered! I bought the Motorola V3 after learning that Jaguar had worked with Motorola to develop the software. Though the information which Jaguar have been putting out talks about compatibility with other makes of mobile phone, I thought it sensible to stick with the manufacturer they worked with on the bluetooth system.
Not only that, but I went a step further, splashing out on the very phone that's pictured on the seat of the S-type in Jaguar's latest brochure - a Motorola V3 RAZR (not cheap either!)
On Friday I learned that this phone actually isn't compatible with the Jaguar bluetooth system. Outstanding! You have to hand it to them - if they're going to develop a system with Motorola, you'd think it would work with their latest "flagship" phone (particularly as the product is photographed next to the blurb in the brochure talking about "the latest in wireless technology").
Interestingly, my friend's Sony Ericsson seems to work perfectly. Pretty crazy, don't you think!

Hello,
Does anyone have the approved list of cell phones that can be used in Jaguars?
Thanks in advance.

Well i fthe speakers of the stereon of the car are used to play the incoming voice and there is a microphone in the car used to send your voice ... then won't that microphone pick up the incoming voice and turn the whole conversation into one big microphony experience? One long loud BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP..?
It sure happens when you call the radio or TV startion and the TV/radio is working loud enough while you are on the phone with the same channel... or when oyu use a PC microphone next to the speakers you use for the conversation...

Notice somebody added a reply and it prompted me to update this post as I promised Jaguar's customer service team I would.
I've never been treated so badly by a company in my life. They refused to return calls, the software updates needed to get the phone working didn't work - in fact a year down the line it's worse than ever.
The engineers in the dealerships had less knowledge about bluetooth than their customers. All in all, a pretty unbelievable experience.
Take my advice. Stay well away from Jaguar Cars.

I have also had lots of problems with the Jaguar bluetooth system.
I am so disapointed with the bluetooth system and lack of knowledge that the dealer has that I am having a genuine Nokia carkit and craddle fitted tomorrow
