T-Mobile has announced the suspension of HP's iPAQ h6315 due to reports of numerous software glitches. Released last July to compete with palmOne's Treo, the iPAQ features PDA functionality with 802.11b and Bluetooth connectivity.
Soon after sales began, users realized the h6315 software was unstable, being prone to frequent lockups. The ROM update will correct many problems with new code to control both GPRS and Bluetooth chips.
Awaiting a ROM update to fix a majority of the problems, the patch will be available free for download on HP's website beginning the first week of April, said Mike Hockey, an HP spokesperson.
An alternative to existing h6315 customers is to exchange the device for one of several other PDAs available through T-Mobile, including the palmOne Treo 600, and several BlackBerry models from RIM.
