I'ts about time. I figured it was going to take a congress member's kid getting caught by this to get something done about this company. Here's to hoping they're run out of town on a rail.

As much as I want to see hot poker rammed into Jamster's people, I doubt this will end in our favor. Jamster does tell you in the fine print that they will charge you, and it's sent to your cell bill. they just try to not let you pay attention to the fact. It's also frustrating because it shows up on your bill, so it looks like Cingular (or whomever you have service with) look like the jerk in all this.

Look at the commercials. Trust me, I hate Jamster for people calling in complaining about their direct bill, but they did cover their bases. Everything is listed that needs to be. On the commercials, even the disclaimer which is normally in FINE FINE print, is big enough to be ledgible.
If customers are complaining about their charges, shouldn't they be liable for providing the phone to a Pre-Teen? Where are the parenting skills in this matter?

Jamster is a bunch of liars and cheats. Yeah they may be "legal," but they use backhanded methods to swindle unsuspecting kids... its abound time they got what's coming to them.

This leads me to my next question. Who gave the phones to the kids? Granted I hate Jamster with a passion, but all the blame cannot be directed to them.
Lack of guidance and teaching of phone responsibility goes to the parents credit.

Kids don't read the fine print. They hear the word free and they think mom and dad won't mind. They haven't learned that nothing free in the world.
Granted its not entirely Jamster's fault, taking advantage of the kids who don't know better isn't right.

While I disagree with the practices that Jamster has advertising and going towards little kids, parents have some responsibility as well. I know if my kid downloaded ringtones that totaled 50 bucks, they would work to pay that off. Little kids dont need cell phones, thats why there are quarters and pay phones.
Parents on the other hand, need to keep an eye on the stuff their kids do on their phones. Its their kid, its their responsibility.

All buddy needed to do was contact jamster, adv them of what happened (his underage child texted them) and he should have got a full refund. Jamster is pretty good at writting checks out to people who complain... Prob to aviod getting sued lol.

Unethical business practice. Period. Shouldn't say "free" when it's not. Just be blunt. Be fair. When you are in business, honesty is still the best policy.
Jamster could still get out of trouble, if it has big enough heart to apologize and won't continue the misleading promotion efforts again. I wonder who are their shareholders, letting the managers run such unethical practices. Practices that make them lose money.
Just an opinion.

Even if a kid "saw" the contract info on the bottom of the screen, they can't legally agree to a contract, which is what Jamster does. You sign a contract to receive a ringtone every day/week/month until you end it. Problem is, when a parent does catch this, they have to search for hours before they can figure out how to cancel. Even calling the 800 number for Jamster refers you to the website, which doens't list how to un-subscribe very clearly.
Anyway, back to the contract issue, they can't sign contracts, which is why they don't have cell phones in their own names. Jamster should require you to call, and verify somehow that you are the account owner. Yea it'll cost more to do it this way, but they would be settin an example for other companies like themselves.
I'm so sick of customers coming in because they were forced into paying Jamsters charges, even after cancelling the service and stopping all sms/mms messaging on their phones. In my opinion, US carriers should ban them from operating on their networks, even if it makes them a few pennies on the internet usage.
