Siemens Mobile Plans Spin-Off Amid Losses

At least half of Siemens Mobile will likely be sold after it said it didn't know if it would be able to increase earnings this year after posting losses.
"We thought we could achieve, under certain conditions, another slight rise in (full-year) earnings. Today, this is difficult to assess," Chief Executive Klaus Kleinfeld said.
Failing to give specifics, Siemens said it was talking to potential partners and would likely only keep a minority share.
"The Siemens mobile-phone brand is also clearly a value," said Kleinfeld. "Today, we can guarantee our customer that mobile phones will continue to be marketed under the Siemens name. All our options clearly entail this."
Henning Dransfeld, research director at consulting firm Ovum said, "We are left guessing-as we have been in the past four months-on how Siemens wants to achieve the turnaround. For the moment, no news is not good news."
The struggling mobile phone unit reported losses of $179 million, selling 9.3 million phones in the quarter.

I hope your losses will open your eyes to the reality that nobody likes your phones!
Here in the Philippines (NOTE: It is the TEXT capital of the world! So heed my advice , Siemens is almost synonymous to PATHETIC. Although your phones do look interesting, nobody here uses Siemens coz it is DAMN notorious for not being user-friendly--and BORING!
How about using more color in your screen? And having a phone that is user-friendly for someone who has large fingers (your keypads are too damn close to each other!)? And more ways to navigate thru your menu/options (such as usability of the keypads in navigating in addition to the joystick/d-pad)? And keeping information readily available on screen (such as the time, date, sender, and a potion of the text message readily seen even before you actually open the message such as the one in the Mitsubishi cellphones )?
And, best of all (in my humble opinion), how about keeping logical command sequences readily accessible? For example, keep the "delete" option on-screen when browsing thru messages or have a hot key for it like the ones in sony-ericsson phones. I have been testing your units at D-Exchange in G4 Makati, Phils. and it really sucks to see your right/left keys having no commands on them at certain phases of the menu. What a waste of buttons!
You guys have a LOT of room for improvement when it comes to these aspects (i.e. user-friendliness and excite factor). Try emulating Nokia or have your units tested by real cellphone users (like me ^-^) first before offering it to the public.
Wake-up, Siemens!!! Your insensitivity to your users' needs is gonna be your downfall!

There is one thing that Siemens has that no common tao in the Phils know. Ok so they release a new phone every month wiping out the previous line and people think of selling their phones for newer ones with just the same.
But Siemens is more reliable, Ericsson & motorola have already lost this when they intrduced their newer phones. How many people there would see you drop a Nokia and even think if it would still run or would have problems then you have to take it to Nokia care, then you get charged. Or bring it to Greenhills and have your parts swapped for more problems.
It is actually a good sign that now BenQ has bought Siemens. Because unlike the Phils. Nokia is known as a dispossable phone in nearly every other country.
Also the digital Exchange, you better check. Because the owner of Siemens, Sony-Ericsson, Nokia & Motorola is just one. MX Mobile, plus the owner uses a Siemens SX-1.
One added quote to macamodo, Nokia uses Symbian since they bought that, plus Nokia will be bought by another company later this year.
Two, ericsson, Motorola & Siemens uses their own proprietary OS, except the SX-1.
