Available at all 4900 on-street and off-street parking spaces throughout Coral Gables, Florida, residents and visitors alike are now being offered the convenience of paying for parking using their existing cell phones.
By registering online or by phone, PayMint allows the customer to dial a PayMint phone number found on customized decals on the city's meters, and purchase parking time without having to leave their vehicle.
Parking enforcement officers in Coral Gables are equipped with handheld wireless devices and log into the PayMint system in order to verify PayMint users have parked. To further benefit the customer, PayMint will automatically send a text message reminder to the user's cell phone to log out at preset time increments.
"We are excited to be the first city in the United States to offer wireless parking and are confident that it will be quickly adopted. By simply using your cell phone, parking in Coral Gables is now easy and hassle-free; no more searching for correct change, guessing how much time is necessary and running back and forth to plug change into a meter between meetings or errands," commented David L. Brown, Coral Gables City Manager.
"Coral Gables is a significant step for us in our wireless payment technology implementation, it represents our expansion into the US and it also marks the first on-street deployment anywhere," said Frank Maduri, President of Mint Inc.
The Coral Gables rollout is PayMint's first deployment in the United States. Mint's wireless parking platform is running in large Canadian cities including Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria with additional rollouts scheduled for selected cities in Canada and the US.
