Sprint customers using Picture Mail should get ready for their close-ups with a new, mobile photo contest created by FunMail, a leading provider of unique mobile entertainment. With America's Best Mobile Pix, Sprint customers can take pictures with their camera phones and enter their favorites in a variety of ongoing contests, such as "Best Pets," "Cutest Baby," "Hottest Guy," "Coolest Ride" and "Funniest Pix."
FunMail's Contest Platform is fully integrated into Picture Mail, enabling consumers to easily submit photos or rank other entries directly from their phones or their online albums at www.sprint.com/picturemail . All picture entries are screened prior to being entered to ensure they are family-friendly. When consumers browse and rate pictures in each category, they can also check out each picture's average score. Top-rated pictures are evaluated by a panel of judges that selects the winners. All winning pictures are given a place of fame in the Winner's Gallery.
"Consumers already use camera phones to capture images of their family, friends, pets and favorite possessions, so there's really no extra work to enter these contests," said Pierre Barbeau, general manager - Picture Mail, Sprint. "America's Best Mobile Pix adds value to the Picture Mail service by giving customers another fun way to share pictures, have them rated and, in some cases, have a chance at winning prizes."
Customers can access the contests from the Sprint PCS Vision deck on their handsets by selecting Menu/Downloads/Applications/Get New/Photos/America's Best Mobile Pix. A subscription is $2.99 a month. Customers can access the contests from the Web at www.sprint.com/picturemail under My Picture Mail/Album/Send To Contest. Contests that have company sponsors are free and offer prizes; a subscription to members-only contests is $2.99 a month. Typically, about eight categories are available at any time and change frequently.
Two sponsored contests are currently being offered: "Cutest Baby" and "Coolest Pet." The winners will receive $100 gift certificates.
"This is a new advertainment segment for FunMail and the mobile industry," said Adam Lavine, FunMail CEO. "Through this offering to Sprint customers, we're enabling companies to reach wireless users in a way that is fun and exciting for the consumer."
