Popular Electronic Arts Titles Coming to Verizon Wireless

Mon Jul 18, 2005 5:03 pm

Electronic Arts and Verizon Wireless today announced a publishing relationship that will bring EA's blockbuster games to Verizon Wireless Get It Now customers. In coming weeks, the initial launch line-up is expected to include graphically rich versions of Madden NFL 06, NBA Live 06, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, FIFA 06, Need for Speed Most Wanted, The Sims 2, and popular games from Pogo.com including Tri Peaks Solitaire, Turbo 21 and Poppit. Verizon Wireless customers with VCAST-enabled phones can download 3D games and can take advantage of Need for Speed Underground 2 which will launch in 3D exclusively on VCAST from Verizon Wireless.

John Stratton, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless said, "Our relationship with one of the world's most innovative game developers and publishers will bring many of EA's most popular titles to our vast customer base, giving our Get It Now gamers access to the most advanced wireless games on the market. Armed with VCAST-enabled wireless phones, customers from coast to coast can easily enjoy the titles' advanced 3D graphics and sounds delivered over our wireless broadband network."

John Batter, VP and General Manager of EA Mobile stated, "Like Verizon Wireless, we are 100% committed to delivering the most compelling on-the-go entertainment experiences to mobile phone users. Verizon Wireless' network provides us with the platform, audience and technology needed to showcase our games' advanced graphics and unforgettable gameplay. With our extensive line-up of 3D games, EA is using state-of-the-art technology to deliver the most powerful line-up of hit games available."

Kicking off with the release of Madden NFL 06, the line-up of EA games on Verizon Wireless' Get It Now service is unmatched. Whether it is hoops action with NBA Live 06, footie madness with FIFA 06, cop evasion and tuner culture with Need for Speed Most Wanted or going for a hole in one with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, players will get the most out of EA Sports on Verizon Wireless' Get It Now service. For players that prefer puzzles and personalities to athletics, EA will bring the world's most popular simulation game with The Sims 2 as well as Tri-Peaks Solitaire, Turbo 21 and Poppit! from Pogo.com -- the world's most popular destination for puzzle games.

Verizon Wireless' Get It Now service offers customers a virtual store right on their phones with games, ring tones, productivity applications and more. The getGAMES shopping aisle contains a wide variety of action, sports, puzzle, strategy and other games to keep players entertained. Located within the getGAMES shopping aisle, VCAST Games offer Verizon Wireless customers the latest in wireless applications with 3D games featuring enhanced sound, graphics and depth. Downloading 3D games in the VCAST coverage area is fast, and once downloaded onto a customer's phone, games may be played anywhere.

VCAST from Verizon Wireless is the nation's first wireless broadband multimedia service for consumers that brings high-quality video, 3D games and music straight to hot new phones. VCAST customers have access to more content from top content partners than customers of any other carrier.
