As the first device to include Motorola's SCREEN3 technology, the V557 provides an innovative approach to push information to consumers. Using a "ticker tape" that runs along the bottom of the phone's home screen, the V557 takes advantage of Cingular's Media Net Live Ticker service to push news, sports, entertainment, and other premium content and services. Information is presented to users with no buttons to push, and no browsers to launch.
Featuring chrome details and a soft-touch finish, the V557 delivers a compelling experience with a built-in VGA camera phone with Bluetooth wireless technology and EDGE broadband technology. Pumped up with productivity tools, the V557 offers an email client supporting POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP protocols, speakerphone functionality, and Java-based software applications.
Ideal for the busy professional, the Motorola V557 gives consumers a new way to enjoy continuous access to news that's important to them, functioning as an efficient mobile phone for anyone looking to stay connected to their world.

If this is pretty much a rehash of the V551, I wouldn't touch this phone with a 10' foot pole.
After going thru 5 phones in a year due to fault equipment with it breaking again just as it's out of warranty, I don't have confidence that this will be a reliable phone.

I gotta admit, I had a 551 for almost a year and it kicked ass. Never had a single problem, and I can only hope my V3 treats me the same way.

I just recently got the Motorola V3 after having the V551 for six months. I had no problems with the V551, just wanted an upgrade for Christmas. If the V557 keeps those features it could be a great phone, the 551 was.

They send you someone's old piece of crap phone. Reconditioned they call it. Slap on a new face plate and walla your new replacement phone. I know because they did it to me. Scratches and dirt on it with a new cover. I made them send me a fresh one right out of the box (new kit) charger, battery and phone and book. Make them get you a new one, why take that crap from them.
