Samsung today unveiled the Samsung T509 super-slim bar phone, boasting an ultra-thin profile of only 9.8 mm, even thinner than the Motorola SLVR.
The T509 joins Samsung's successful slim predecessors, the A900, featuring a clamshell design, and the T809, with its slider design. Both phones support advanced multimedia features and each measures less than 15 mm thin. Also included in Samsung's upcoming portfolio of sleek, slim phones is the D807, a stylish black and chrome slider expected in the U.S. this summer.
The T509 and D807 feature high-speed EDGE connectivity and Bluetooth wireless technology to support delivery of entertainment and information on-demand services. Each phone boasts large, vivid 262K-color screens, ideal for watching streaming videos or viewing images taken with the phones' integrated cameras. On the D807, an external memory slot, supporting microSD memory cards, allows for additional external content storage.
The Samsung T509 is expected to launch on T-Mobile in May 2006.

How is the thinnest phone in America an imitation?
Samsung certainly didn't imitate the RAZR (poor
reception and missing functions).
Samsung has leapfrogged the competition.

T509 has EDGE. Razr does not.
samsung has not had major product recalls as early as this year on their hottest phone to say the least.
side note, anyone ever go from motorola to samsung or vise versa? my god, youll pull your hair out, as many times as you hit the wrong buttons constantly. they just HAVE to put everything on the opposite side from each other dont they?

the phones look nearly identical! first motorola comes out with the razr... then samsung lauches the a900 (nicknamed the... ahem... blade). then moto releases the slvr and samsung announces the t509? sure the t509 has better features, but the design is a direct moto rip off! what are they going to nickname it? the splinter?

Went from Samsung back to Motorola. I wont ever own a Samsung again, slow interface, buggy.. phone crashed all the time (this was the SGH d415). As far as recalls? nope, samsung hardly ever recalls their phones, they have the most bad press of any cell manufactor but hardly ever recall.. why? they just discontinue, and send out something "new".
Oh well.. I'll stick with Moto.

...samsung hardly ever recalls their phones...
You think it's good when a company has to recall it's phones?!
Then you should stick with Motorola.

actually samsung is one of the lowest bugged manufacturers out there. Samsung has the lowest charger defects and the lowest amount of buggy and defective phones out there except Motorola maybe you should do your research

warnergt - I think it is good when they know they have a problem and they recall their phones, not just ignore the problem like Samsung.
blades1130 - Perhaps YOU need to do some research according to the FCC website Samsung is the leader in consumer complaints on nearly ALL of their products, from Cell phones to VCR's. Cell phone problems outrank all other cell manufactors 4 to 1. Samsung itself has admited that they would rather discontinue known defect phones then recall them, its more cost effective for them NOT to fix problems.
According to the The New York Times, Samsung has the lowest customer satisfaction (Mobile Phones) ranking, coming in at number 3 of ten (Sony Ericsson was the worst).
But hey, what do I know

i would get this phone instead of the slvr becuase it smaller and better. but also the slvr keys make it hard to dial numbers fast. the slvr may havea better look but i like the t509 better. t809 rocks!

I disagree. I'm all for the SLVR. IMHO it has a better look and has iTunes, the T509 doesn't.

I went from a Motorola V180 to a Samsung T509 and it was hard to get used to at first but it only took a day to warm up. The phone is amazing. I haven't had any problems with it. My sister also had a V180 and then went with Motorola again. She still wishes she would have gotten mine cuz mine does everything and hers costed more.

Ok, I got the Samsung T509 about one week ago, through my T-Mobile service provider. It is the best phone i have had yet! Yet, it still has its up and and downs.
I think the Camcorder is a little underestimated. you can only shoot 8 second videos.
The pictures are great! they come out clear as day, and the effects are very cool. Sketch is my favorite
Overall, the phone is great for TXTING and MMS message! I would recommend this this phone anyday!
