Helio, the mobile venture of SK Telecom and EarthLink, said today it has agreed to put a link to Yahoo!'s Web search engine directly on its cell phone screens to make it easier to surf the Web on its devices.
Helio hopes to pick up customers in the crowded U.S. wireless market by targeting its services specifically at tech-savvy young adults.Through this relationship, Helio customers will be able to access Yahoo! services such as Yahoo! Search, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Sports and more on Helio's 3G services: - Yahoo! Search - Helio and Yahoo! are partnering to offer access to Yahoo! search from the Helio device home screen that combines Helio's premium mobile content. Members will also be able to use Yahoo! Shortcuts, a quick way to get useful information such as local restaurants, movie showtimes, sports scores, weather, and stock quotes. - Yahoo! News, Sports, Finance and Movies - Helio will offer links to Yahoo!'s content services. In addition Helio will provide consumers dynamic news feeds on selected topics on their Helio device home screen. - Yahoo! Mail - Helio members will have access to their Yahoo! Mail account from anywhere. Members will also be able to add, edit or delete contacts in their Yahoo! Address Book. - Yahoo! Messenger - Yahoo!'s instant messaging service gives the ability to send and receive messages. Members will also be able to set presence information to show friends and family when they are online and available to chat. Helio and Yahoo! will also introduce new Yahoo! services including Yahoo! Go for Mobile, a full range of Yahoo!'s leading community, information and content services integrated into a single complete product experience.
