MyFoodPhone will provide Sprint camera phone users access to nutrition service based on the use of camera phone images and video feedback. Customers snap a photo or take a short video with their cameraphone of what they're about to eat and send it off to Quebec-based MyFoodPhone. Allowing users to track their food consumption, MyFoodPhone has remote access to nutrition counseling based on their eating habits.
Customers receive video feedback on their eating habits biweekly for only $9.99 a month. The service's mobile food-journaling application helps users monitor what they eat, modify their eating habits, and achieve their individual health goals through motivation provided by counseling from trained, credible MyFoodPhone Nutrition Advisors.
MyFoodPhone's "Visual Food Journal" lets users send their Picture Mail photos to a Web-based Food Journal to log data such as weight, exercise, and calories burned. Tracking the progress on their phones, a unique dashboard shows the various food categories of each meal and how many portions the customer has consumed. Then a nutrition advisor provides feedback through a video clip on how to improve eating habits.
MyFoodPhone currently is available only on the Sprint network. The Quebec company is expected to launch the service with other mobile carriers later.

Sounds ridiculous. I doubt they'd even get the calorie count right from just a photo.

What's with the health phone fad? First this then Nokia releases phones that keep track of calories and include fitness applications? Is the fitness phone the new arena for 2007?

fitness phones are going to be what music phones were in 2006 and camera phones were in 2005. the fitness trend has been going on for awhile. in north america people are more health concious eating bagels, subway, etc.

i don't think enough people exercise to justify manufacturers going to war over fitness phones. they're just running out of things to integrate into cell phones.

This service is ridiculous. You're just taking a picture of your food and sending it to someone to try and guess how many calories it has. You can't tell if its cooked in butter or lard from a 640 x 480 px.
Just another way for people to make a quick buck on a useless service.
