Even though Sprint announced it would be the first to launch the Palm Treo 700p, Verizon Wireless beat it to consumers today by offering it online.

Equipped with Palm OS, the Treo 700p all-in-one smartphone features BroadbandAccess Connect on Verizon's EV-DO network, a 1.3-megapixel digital camera, Wireless Sync, a Digital Music Player and built-in Bluetooth 1.2 wireless technology.

Combining the award-winning hardware design of the Treo 700w with Palm OS software, the Treo 700p is capable of streaming mobile content such as live TV, movie clips, and audio from radio stations, as well as training videos or company communications.

The Treo 700p is initially priced at $499.99 with a two-year contract.

Hah! Sprint even put out news that they were going to be the first ones with the Treo 700p. Verizoin pulled a quick one on them. Now Sprint looks like liars.

Sprint customers are probably not too happy. Though I think Sprint should be announcing it any day now.

That's the main differnce. The 700w runs Windows the 700p runs Palm OS.

That's a pretty huge difference. Basically the whole software and functionality is different. Cosmetically they look similar.

so not to sound dumb, but what i can't figure out is waht's going to be the difference bewtween a 700p and a 650...better camera? and does the streaming media portion mean it will have vcast?

It says it has broadband but no mobile web. Can someone explain the difference to me?
