The D807 features high-speed EDGE connectivity and Bluetooth wireless technology to support delivery of entertainment and information on-demand services. Boasting a large and vivid 262K-color screen, the D807 is ideal for watching streaming videos or viewing images taken with the phone's integrated 1.3-megapixel camera. To store MP3 tracks, the D807 offers an external microSD memory card slot.

The functionality provided by a slim phone with expanded screen supports crucial advanced multimedia features, such as entertainment services, streaming video and messaging. there is a small speaker at the very bottom of the phone. it provides sufficient sound for playing mp3s. overall great phone. much better than the razr crap that motorolla comes out with

12. Posted by carbonmade22 Sun Jun 18, 2006 7:39 am

Are you able to set the phone to ring and vibrate at the same time. I've had other samsung phones in the past that do not allow you to do this. thanks

13. Posted by brmfulasha Fri Jun 23, 2006 7:34 pm

yes it does vibrate and rings. it does plays mp3s i copied one to the micro sd stick i bought and it works perfectly.

14. Posted by Rockfiend Sun Jun 25, 2006 1:56 pm

Just purchased a D807 and have a question regarding charging. I notice that when the phone is charging, whether it is on or off, the LCD display constantly stays on, it does not dim or go into sleep mode. Is there any way to turn off the display while it is charging to conserve the LCD?

Thanks,

Rockfiend

I have a D807 and I can't get it to play the mp3 ring tones that I have set for people.

16. Posted by hyman759 Mon Jun 26, 2006 2:03 am

your mp3's have to be under 600kb to be used as a ringtone. Maybe a firmware upgrade will change that in the future. Just chop your mp3's down to a 30 second clip or something and u'll be fine. It's not like ur gonna let ur phone ring for 3-4 mins.

17. Posted by tommynguyen02 Fri Jun 30, 2006 12:40 pm

I just recently purchased this phone and how do you set the phone to ring and vibrate at the same time? It's a real annoyance to me.

18. Posted by Jspec05 Sat Jul 01, 2006 2:11 am

Menu > Settings > Sound Settings > Incoming Call > go down to "Alert Type" and change it to Vibration and Melody.

Did anyone figure out how to use those mp3's as a text message sound instead of the preloaded tone?

Is there anyway to make the MP3's play through bluetooth?

Many people can sit here and complain about their personal issues and disreguard Cingular as an uncaring and cold company...however lets look at the facts...

Billing issues? what wireless company doesn't have them? Faulty equipment? again, give me the name of a service provider that can give you a perfect phone all the time.

Cingular went through a huge transition when they bought AT&T wireless...they almost double their network and they are still putting up towers. Do they have perfect service? No. No one does. Their handsets are the best looking. They set the market standard when they launched the RAZR-so much so that both Verizon and T-mobile had to comply to compete with the demand. And, not for nothing, Cingular's model is still better.

Is any provider perfect? Not at all. But a third party company claims that Cingular has 'the fewest dropped calls'. That wasn't paid for by Cingular...it was paid for by Telephia-the industry leader in wireless.

Billing issue WILL ALWAYS HAPPEN. Defective phones WILL ALWAYS HAPPEN. Rude customer service reps and sales people and just people in general ARE EVERYWHERE. What makes you think you're so special for you to think that these things CAN'T happen to you?

Everything new is a risk, but don't beat up the person on the other side because it's not working out the way YOU want. I've seen Cingular do some awesome things for customers and it's not gonna stop there.

Their 'raising the bar' campaign is just that-they're in the process of raising the bar in network, service and overall satisfaction and just like with every process, it takes time.

Who else gives you back the minutes you paid for all ready with Rollover? You else has a superior GSM service here in the United States? Who else gives you an upgrade option of 18 months within a 2-year contract?

Don't cry when your call does drop, just hit redial...

Don't like your bill? Figure out what's wrong first and then call-IT'S YOUR BILL...YOU SIGNED THE CONTRACT.

People are rude? Well boo-hoo for you...it's reality...deal with it...

no service in your area? How about moving to a place where theres actual civilization and not just because the houses are cheap.

Seriously...lets get it together

Tell that to the customers who brought the lawsuit to Cingular over shady dealings.

26. Posted by t809rox Wed Jul 12, 2006 4:29 pm

Working in the cellular industry I can say with confidence that Motorola is bunk. I have sold, used, and abused the Motorola RAZR, SLVR, PEBL, as well as the Samsung t809, t509, and d807. Samsung beats Motorola hands down not only on looks but on call quality, ability to hold reception in poor areas (especially the northwoods), feature richness, and overall durability.

Sadly, for the often ill informed consumer, Motorola has a much better PR department and my company has more margin to play with on the Motorola products (most likely due to inferior manufacturing).

As a side note: I recommend the t809 over the d807, they look similar but the t809 is much more customizable.

27. Posted by t809rox Wed Jul 12, 2006 4:33 pm

Are the contacts on your SIM or phone? Just like the t809 (or any GSM phone), your contacts have to be on the phone to work with picture or video caller id.

And this phone will use a full mp3 as a ringtone, check out the strings for the t809 to learn how to do this.

Sadly you cannot do this, I've tried in vain on my T809 and D807. The only way I know will work is if you flash the OS to the pre-Cingular (Samsung OEM) OS.

Well, for one thing, T-Mobile offers you an upgrade after one year even though you are under a two-year agreement (T-Mobile now offers 2 year plans)

Another thing, Cingular's GSM network is not that large (with roaming agreements and the like it is no bigger than T-Mobile's). The FCC and FTC allow carriers to "estimate" coverage on their "maps". The only two carriers that have maps that are close to accurate are T-Mobile and Verizon. I've used all four carriers and I can say that VZW and TMo are far superior to Cingular and Sprextel in every fashion.

If you have a billing issue, it is most likely your error or misunderstanding or your plan.

Rollover? About as cute a gimmick as "7pm nights", if you have more daytime minutes for less money, why do you need those gimmicks (back to VZW and TMo)?

I tired to get a replacement for my w600 but Cingular said that model is on back order right now. They offered me the d807, I wonder if I should take it. Any advice? The only thing that bothers me on the sony phone is the white screen of death, got it twice already. icon_neutral.gif

Depends on what you want in a phone. I was thinking about getting the substitute D807 last week, but I was already thinking that after the 'wow' factor was gone I would get bored with it. Yeah, the D807 looks nice, but I prefer what the W600 has what the D807 doesn't: radio, flashlight, etc. Listening to MP3's all day long can get boring. And if this supposed to be somewhat of a high-end phone, why didn't Samsung include an LED flash to accompany the 1.3MP camera? I'm not worried by the supposed "WSOD". Just have the firmware flashed and it's still good.

38. Posted by corona7w Thu Jul 20, 2006 10:36 am

Does D807 install custom applications? I heard that Cingular set many firmware restrictions that you cannot install any java game/app transferred from your pc. And what's the maximum possble memory that the phone can be expanded to?

39. Posted by tburke72 Tue Jul 25, 2006 3:09 pm

What's the easiest way to get MP3s onto my D807 from my computer? Sorry, I'm a cell phone novice! But this is a great phone. Likin' it so far!

40. Posted by tburke72 Tue Jul 25, 2006 3:25 pm

Is there a USB connection you can buy? Bluetooth? Sorry, I know, silly question. Thanks!

Has anyone unlocked the D807 to work with other SIM cards?

Thanks!

44. Posted by glock454u Thu Aug 10, 2006 8:37 pm

I have just ordered my D807 phone.
I have been looking at several memory cards. The user manual states a 512 microSD card is the biggest you can use. But I have read several reviews and other snippets that state cards 512 to 1GB to 2GB in size can be used.

Can anyone clarify this for me. I have ordered my phone and it will be here Monday and I want to order a memory card soon.

45. Posted by glock454u Thu Aug 10, 2006 8:38 pm

Cables are available all over.

Check Ebay as they run about $15.00.

46. Posted by peryus88 Thu Aug 10, 2006 9:37 pm

It depends on the brand. I use Topram, PQI, and Kingston, and they work fine on my phones. Just check to see if the seller or vendor states that it will work on mobile phones.

47. Posted by didefresh05 Thu Aug 10, 2006 9:42 pm

I just received my d807 this week and it is awesome. I won't prolly use it as my primary mp3 player (since I have a 30gb ipod video) and I won't prolly use it as my main camera, but it's awesome! I like the email applications the best on this phone. That is something the razr don't have.

icon_blink.gif

And the sequence of other phones are similar? I had a harder time with my razr:

1. Press envelope button
2. Go to "Create New Message"
3. Write message
4. Go to "options"
5. either add new number or go to "address book" and choose your number
6. Make sure it's right and then "send"

the 807:
1. Press the arrow going up
2. Write your message
3. Press options
4. Send message
5. The line asks who. Put the phone # or go to options, press 3 and find the recipient
6. Press send.

I like the mass message option. I guess that's a samsung first like the moto first--vibrate then ring, which is the best idea since twice sliced bread (that new knife you can slice a slice of bread so you'll get less carbs than using 2 pieces of bread on a sandwich.)

49. Posted by peryus88 Thu Aug 10, 2006 10:01 pm

Hey dide, I heard that you can't minimize the music player to do other things like surfing the web. Is that true? Because the phone does look promising. I hope it doesn't have the reception issues like that of the T809.

I was looking at two Sandisk cards. They have two 1GB their site says will work. One is an Ultra II model for faster reads but I didnt know if the phone would really use that.

51. Posted by robb17 Tue Aug 15, 2006 2:34 am

Okay so I have the sgh d807 and got a sandisk 1gb memory. Before I got the USB data cable I would do Mp3/images cut and paste transfer from PC to cell phone. Figured out that Mp3 bitrate has to be under 192 and name files under 32 characters.

I just recently got my USB data cable and tested it out and worked fine but
my problem is when i go to try to use the MyStuff/Graphics/My images and apply it as wallpaper it reads "Memory full" and under downloaded graphics it indicates that there is 4 but when i try to select it...the cell phone locks up and shows the Please wait followed by SGH d807 white screen and sometimes freezes up momentarily but goes back to the idle Cingular screen? It doesn't allow me to change the images as wallpapers? I've deleted other images to resolve the Memory full message but still the same problem.

Does anyone how to fix this problem? or know a link. Thanks

52. Posted by bcblastr Tue Dec 19, 2006 6:42 am

I dont know if anyone has posted this but to set mp3's as ringtones, the mp3 file has to be less than 550 kb. Its only about 30 seconds. I just put incomplete downloads on my phone. Its kinda lame, but thats how you get mp3's as ringtones.

Hi

I just bought D807 cellphone and I tried to transfer mp3 files from my computer to the cellphone through the bluetooth wireless.

I copied to "BlueTooth Exchange Folder" and it is automatically copied to "My Stuff - Other Files" folder in the cellphone. But I can't move the file from that folder to any other folder because all other folders are read-only folder.

My question is how can I copy my mp3 files from my computer to the cellphone and also how can I make it as default ringtone.

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Kumar

OK i cant compare to a razr... never had one...
But i can compare to Sony Erricson W600I....

Sony wins hands down...

My sony was damaged due to water and the ins. company identified this as the only replacement since my phone is no longer in production...

My problems with samsung Phone.

Camera--
-- No flash
-- i mistakenly copied my wallpaper pic to the sdcard (1gb) so it went to default, not a big deal except when i copied the pic back to the phone it resized it and no longer fits the screen

MP3's --
-- can't play songs over 192 kbs bitrate, why should i lower the bitrate for this one device
-- mp3 player doesnt organize by artist/album
-- mp3 ringtones must be 30sec or shorter... i know i wont let it ring 4 min. but why cant i just pic a song thats already on phone, why must i resize a clip just for the ring?
-- no fm radio... sony got'em there

Buttons --
-- no tactile feed back to tell edge of buttons, combined with tight spacing means i hit clear intead of down arrow or back instead of right often...its agravating

data/charge/handsfree--
-- One port?? my sony had propriterary port but it included a 3.5 mm dongle,
-- usb does not charge phone?? its the same darn port, every usb device i have ever owned could charge from the usb connection
-- samsung ear buds are about the worst fitting i have ever tried

--email/internet/games
-- no pop/imap support, can only use 4 default email servers
-- samsung doesnt provide free applications/games/wallpapers on their website

in short i was told by ins. company this phone had comparable features.
technically they are right
- mp3 player
- camera phone
- email access
- games

but everything is half-assed (pardon my language) they put the features in there but didnt develop it the way they should have.

just my .02

You can't beat cingular or their phones. The iphone this summer?!?! Nothing better than that. THe d807 is great too. What good is the capri if it's not in America? You have to leave the country to buy good phones from other copmanies? That's just great. With the slider you can install games for free as long as you get them from your copmuter, use it like an mp3 player (micro sd cards up to 2 gigs at least now). You cant make a song your message tone icon_sad.gif but hopefully a new firmware release can fix that. Overall its one of the best phones out.

Does anyone know of a firmware flash for this phone so that it isn't so locked down?

The salesman promised me up and down I should switch to Cingular and buy this phone specifically so I could copy my MP3's and make them ringtones.

Except you can't.

Nor can I use my sounds as sounds.

Nor can I move over my jar files from my old phone.

You had a microsd slot, but in order to put together a decent playlist or really play the music, you must copy it from the memory card to the phone's very limited memory space.

I was told it had photo caller id, but despite the large beautiful LCD display, the photos are all resized down really small for caller id for no good reason.

The hardware is nice, but I'm hoping there is a much better firmware.

Sorry to double post, but I'd also be content if I could use something like BitPim. Does anyone know of a way to get BitPim to recognize the phone?

I bought a data cable, and now I'm beginning to think that was a waste of money.
