Embodying Motorola's design philosophy, the products are impressively narrow, contain a sliding form factor and integrate new advances in color, material and finish.

The Motorola KRZR meets and surpasses the RAZR standard for slimness, with more than a centimeter shaved off its width. Showcasing a multi-dimensional, metallic gloss finish for visual depth, the KRZR exhibits subtle elegance through magnesium, polished chrome and hardened glass. The solid piece of glass on the front of the phone - a technological first for a large volume mobile - results in a high-gloss luster balancing the velvet-like soft touch finish on the back.

Matching the sleek silhouette of KRZR, Motorola's first GSM slider, the RIZR handset diversifies the company's product line-up - giving consumers the ability to slide rather than flip. Although the product showcases a new form, it remains true to Motorola's design ethos with tactile, metallic and soft-touch finishes, a chemically-etched spun metal keypad and optional tattoo graphics.

Motorola KRZR

Available in both GSM and CDMA, the KRZR will be available globally during the second half of 2006, regardless of their network preference. The GSM KRZR K1 features a high resolution 2.0-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth audio, an updated phone directory and new messaging applications. While both versions offer integrated music players and expandable memory up to 1 GB, the CDMA KRZR K1m beats to a slightly different drum boasting touch-sensitive music controls, advanced EV-DO data services and location-based services capabilities.

Motorola RIZR

Merging an innovative slider design with an impressive feature set which is accessible either opened or closed, the RIZR offers intuitive functionality. This slider optimizes on-the-go imaging with its expansive landscape display, 2.0-megapixel camera and programmed point-and-shoot keys. The built-in music player supports a variety of formats and its video capabilities complete this dynamic package.

Holy... sh... Motorola completely blew me out of the water with these phones! They're gorgeous!

2. Posted by GSMDude Tue Jul 25, 2006 11:40 am

looks like vzw got the best phones. sprint once again gets nothing...

3. Posted by Bushy Turtle Tue Jul 25, 2006 11:43 am

motorola and sprint have never gotten along. at least not since the startac days. this isn't any surprise. although sprint going with the samsung copies probably didn't help the relationship.

Just wait a month or so. Once Samsung announces their new phones, these Motos will look like crap.

5. Posted by booboy Tue Jul 25, 2006 11:46 am

the cdma phones look great. but i dont think the gsm phones will go over well with the fans. hsdpa is being rolled out and 2g phones are a thing of the past.

6. Posted by Cadd Tue Jul 25, 2006 11:51 am

They won't wait for HSPDA because they'll buy the best looking phone regardless of features. Why do you think the RAZR was such a hit? A year from now we'll still see the same old phones with VGA cameras. People spend money on style.

How do you even pronounce KRZR? A few vowels please. Anyone thing the naming is getting out of control?

8. Posted by GSMDude Tue Jul 25, 2006 2:27 pm

What do you mean? It looks just like it sounds... icon_biggrin.gif

It's pronounced just like Razor, except with a K. Kray-zor. Yeah I agree... this is geting a bit absurd. What's a Krayzor? Razor.. ok that's logical. Sliver... hm... not as cool but ok. But Krayzor?

9. Posted by mgoblue Tue Jul 25, 2006 5:41 pm

moto's getting out of control with these names...

10. Posted by wannabe Tue Jul 25, 2006 5:54 pm

its cool just like rap music. maybe the next phone will be call syzrp. oh screw it i am no good at this.

11. Posted by sexycustard Tue Jul 25, 2006 5:57 pm

I personally prefer the naming notiation Nokia uses. Reminds me how cars are named for BMW and Mercedes Benz rather than GM and Ford. The Germans use models and numbers whereas the U.S. manufacturers call their cars by names.

12. Posted by GSMDude Tue Jul 25, 2006 9:54 pm

How is the RIZR supposed to be pronounced? I think it's Riser but I never know with these crazy naming conventions.

Isn't that the whole idea of technilogical advancement?

14. Posted by booboy Wed Jul 26, 2006 12:22 pm

Moto pushes the design envelope while Samsung and Nokia go for technology.

Yes, it's pronounced Riser - like Rye-ser

15. Posted by fnc2191 Wed Jul 26, 2006 9:43 pm

OH MY GOD!!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING SOO LONG FOR A SLIDING VERSION OF THE RAZR. I will have this phone the first day it is available on e-bay.

16. Posted by BEUC@cingular Wed Jul 26, 2006 10:33 pm

anyone see the motorola razr maxx on the website a couple days ago. it had the kazr, rizr, razr maxx and new version of the razr but last night i could only find these two so i dunno

17. Posted by Darknova Thu Jul 27, 2006 4:43 am

I think Motorola is running out of ideas for phone names....Did they fire the guy who came up with RAZR or something?

The phones are gorgeous, and who cares if the phone is only 2g...it's a phone, you know, to make calls on? I am a sucker for nice shiny things though so I will go with a nice looking phone, and I now find the camera useful, but except for that, I don't care about WAP, GPRS, or EVDO (whatever the hell that is).

Actually he died 8-(

21. Posted by Chocolate Fri Jul 28, 2006 8:52 pm

So are these going to be for verizon then

22. Posted by QD Fri Jul 28, 2006 9:33 pm

moto's getting out of control with these names...

Yep. It does help though. Ever seen Nokia's lineup? It's all a bunch of numbers. I work for Nokia and I can't keep up with all the different phones.

23. Posted by Moto Fan Mon Aug 14, 2006 2:50 pm

I really don't care about the RIZR. Scratch that ugly thing off.

Now its between the KRZR K1 & the KRZR K1m.

I would totally go for the KRZR K1m if only it was GSM and it had flash icon_sad.gif

Thats why I am choosing the KRZR K1. But I really wish KRZR K1m was GSM and had flash. icon_frown.gif

24. Posted by nasserd Sat Sep 16, 2006 12:46 pm

RAZR = Razor
KRZR = Krazier
K1m = Kim (probably)
