Verizon Wireless to End Music Download Fee

Mon Jul 31, 2006 10:34 am
Verizon Wireless is eliminating the monthly $15 fee for its music download service in conjunction with the launch of the LG Chocolate, a cell phone featuring an iPod-like click wheel and a memory card that can hold up to 1,000 songs.
Boasting more than 1.3 million songs from thousands of artists from top labels and independent providers, VCAST Music is the world's most comprehensive, over-the-air mobile music download service. Allowing customers to browse, preview, download and play high-quality digital music, customers can now gain unfettered access.
Anyone with a VCAST Music-enabled phone can pay-as-they-go to download songs on their phone for $1.99 per song plus airtime, download songs to their Windows XP PC for as little as $0.99 and transfer their existing compatible digital music collection to their V CAST Music-enabled phone or memory card for free from their PC. Purchases from the phone include two copies of every song – one for the phone and one for the Windows XP PC. In addition, V CAST Music customers with Chocolates can listen to their existing mp3 files, a new functionality enabled by new V CAST Music software on the phone.
Artists including the Fugees, Shakira, Green Day, Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Sean Paul and Nelly Furtado have selected Verizon Wireless to give their fans exclusives.

December 29th 2006
Just got a new white chocolate phone and after activation, Verizon wanted $15 a month for music... You've got to be kidding !!!
Cheaper to get an ipod.
This was a very bad investment. If I had know this previously, I would have chose a different carrier.
sheesh...

Just left VZW two hours ago, returning the kit and stopping at BB to get a microSD card...
Moved my music files to the card, inserted it in my white chocolate and it can't find any files....
IF I dl music to my PC and transfer it to the microSD, why can't I play music files... I've already paid for the phone... paid for my dl's... pay a monthly service charge... and now I have to pay $15 more per month (oh ya, the first month is free).
Just called VZW and they said, ya need Vcast and Media player 10.
What am I doing wrong?
Do I really need to pay more?
Ya only pay once for the ipod...

Once again, you do not need VCast to purchase or play Vcast music. First, call customer service and, if you don't get the right answer, ask for a supervisor.
Second, call and get tech support on the phone as to how to transfer files from the PC to the phone. I believe you may need a disk--ask about a music essentials kit.
You do need media player 10, but you don't need VCast.

oops.... returned the music essentials kit today. Returned it because I thought it went hand in hand with the monthly subscription.
Have some time this evening to play with it and if unsuccessful, I'll call VZW.
If you say it can be done... that is all I need to know.
thanks
