Sony Ericsson today announces the K618i, a slim and lightweight 3G phone that delivers an ideal mix of mobility, multimedia applications, and business solutions.
Developed for those users that want entertainment on the move and a powerful business tool, the K618i 3G device is as light and slim as a typical 2.5G phone, yet delivers high-speed rates for streaming or downloading music and video clips, browsing the web, or gaming. And staying in control of email is made easier with support for push email, allowing messages to be sent directly to the phone without having to download them.
Well equipped for both capturing and sharing photos, and playing music, the K618i also features Bluetooth Streaming, to send full-length music tracks (or video clips) wirelessly from the phone and listened to on a compatible Stereo Bluetooth enabled device or headset.
One click of the dedicated camera button and the 2.0-megapixel camera is activated, which comes complete with 2.5x digital zoom and Mobile Blogger. This application allows the user to post (or blog) their images directly to their own blogsite, giving friends and family the chance to go online and view the shots. The K618i is also ready for making video calls; the separate video telephony camera and high-speed 3G connectivity making this a reality.
The 256 MB Memory Stick Micro (M2) provided caters to memory needs and will store around 700 photos or 230 music tracks. There is also the option to expand the external memory up to 1 GB as an individual's media library grows.
The K618i slim-line 'stick' design will launch in a choice of Vibrant Black or Bright White. This UMTS 2100 device will be available in selected markets from Q3 2006.

Except that it will likely not be for sale in the USA b/c it is UMTS 2100. As of right now, we only have UMTS 1900 through Cingular.
Hopefully that will change when the FCC auctions off the new 700/2100 MHz spectrum this summer.

eww... it supports DRM!!! I'm not buying this. Hi everyone! Since this k618i doesnt have a built-in fm radio, I would just like to ask if the HPM-80 walkman headset that comes with the w900 will work on this phone? Has anyone tried using the said headset(hpm-80) on a k610i? did it work? if it did, where will i be able to purchase one? I really like the design of this phone (k618i) the only thing that is making me think twice in buying it is it doesnt have an fm radio, LED photo light and Megabass, otherwise it would have been a great success following what the k750i has achieved since its release in the market. i used to be a loyal user of Nokia, but when my 3230(worst fone they made) began to show-off its bugs, i tried out the k750i and I was happy about making that switch to SE. I already had the chance of holding a k618i and i was really impressed with the design and the quality of its built. too bad, i didnt get a chance to turn it on and try its features. but i am sure this model will be a good replacement to my k750i. At least until a "k620i" with fm radio, LED photolight and megabass comes along. the k618i will be just fine and it will be better if it will be accompanied with the hpm-80. If k800i and w810i were parents and made love, the k618i sure would be their offspring.

I did not have such "powerful" cellphone before. my last one was SonyEricsson J200. calling and SMS is enough for me.
I am looking for some software to make best use of it. But what the operating system it has?
the only two flaws I don't like about K618i: no flash, no slid to protect the lens.
