This looks very interesting. I'm in the market now to buy a new phone and was about to buy 2 LG VX8300's ... his and hers. I like the fact that the 8600 has an internal antenna and that it is thinner than the 8300. But there doesn't appear to be a flash. Do you know how much memory there is? Would you buy the 8600 over the 8300?

From what I have seen, this phone does not have a flash nor does it support a 2.5mm headphone jack. The 8600 comes with an adapter for your headphones. I made sure about this by calling the Verizon store and asking. I was told that the phone had more of a "slot" for the headphones but that it does come with an adapter. The upside on this is that the 8600 does support bluetooth for music so that you can use bluetooth headphones (they call it Advanced Audio Distribution) Over all I think it's a great phone! I have the 8300 and my girlfriend is due for an upgrade next wek and was planning on getting her the same, that is until I saw and researched this one! Way to go LG!

I bought the VX8600 within the past week. It has the sleekness of the RAZR, the MP3 abilities of the Chocolate, and pretty much the latest in cell phone technology you can acquire. As far as using the headphones, yes, it did come with a little adapter that fits into the side port for headphones. If you plan on using your own music, though, be sure to purchase the music kit with it, which is something like 39.99. My favorite feature is that when you take pictures, you can set the phone to display on both the outside and inside screen so you can see yourself while taking your own picture, or friends can see themselves on the screen as you are taking a picture of them.
The disadvantages: The shiny black finish is very susceptible to dirtiness. Once you remove your phone from the box, you will forever be wiping it off with your shirt so it doesn't look gross from your oily hands.
It hasn't received the advertisement that the KRAZR or Chocolate has, but it's usually cheaper and I think a better phone. It gets my recomendation.

Ugh, I have a nice story about this. I had just gotten the 8500 when my family switched from Sprint to Verizon, and everything was going fine until about a month ago when my mom put the phone through the wash. >_<
Luckily we had decided to pay the phone insurance for the first few months just in case, but I when we sent in our claim, Verizon said they COULDN'T give me an 8500 and told me I HAD to get an 8600, which is absolutely rediculous, seeing as how the chocolate is cheaper, isn't a flip phone, and won't get me confused with all those kids who went out and bought RAZR's.
And one thing needs to be said about the "headphone adaptor jack."
IT DOES NOT FIT ORDINARY SIZED HEADPHONES. It's a 2.5 mm adaptor, and I don't think I've EVER owned a pair of 2.5mm headphones, and they certainly aren't common. Normally, you'd get a 3.5 to 2.5 adaptor, but I'm not about to have two different adaptors sticking out of this phone, and I'm not about to spend 30-40 bucks on the music essentials kit for a bunch of worthless novelties and one pair of headphones that actually work. Basically, it's been a few months and I'm already fed up with Verizon.

One point of clarification....the insurance company and Verizon are DIFFERENT COMPANIES!!! The decision to upgrade you to the 8600 was Asurion's and Asurion's alone.
I would contact Asurion and ask for a supervisor---I've dealt with them and the Supes will normally be able to accomodate you.

Well it's a little late as I've already received my phone and am using it, I wish I would have been able to talk to them before my mom went and did it by herself. >_<
