Apple iPhone Launching on June 29th

Tue Jun 05, 2007 9:54 am
Apple and AT&T Stores will begin selling the much-awaited iPhone on June 29th, according to television ads by the high-tech group.
The combination iPod, cell phone and Internet device was unveiled in January by Apple chief executive Steve Jobs.
Jobs has projected sales of 10 million iPhones in its first year. With two models priced at $499 and $599 depending on storage capacity, that would generate more than $5 billion in additional retail sales. Neither AT&T nor Apple is accepting pre-orders for the phone, so it will be first-come, first served at more than 1,800 AT&T and nearly 200 Apple stores, plus the Apple website.
Apple delayed the release of its new Leopard operating system for Macintosh computers so engineers could devote their efforts to the iPhone.
Weighing 135 grams (3.8 ounces), the iPhone will have the Apple OS X operating system and 4 or 8 GB of storage. It will be able to play videos as well as music and have a 3.5-inch screen (nine centimeters).
On its website, Apple said the iPhone will include "a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device." It will also include a 2.0-megapixel digital camera.
The iPhone is to debut in Europe by the end of this year and in Asia in 2008.
Taiwan-based manufacturer Quanta Computer is reported to have a contract to build millions of next-generation iPhones that are to begin shipping before the end of the year.

Warranty Exchange

Protection Plan
iPhone is ineligible for the Wireless Phone Insurance program offered to AT&T customers. If a customer currently has Wireless Phone Insurance from AT&T, it will be removed after the device is activated. Customers will be notified during the Activation process and will receive a confirmation cancellation letter.
If a customer decides to return their iPhone for buyer's remorse, there is a 14 day return period from the date of purchase. However, the customer will still have the full 30 day buyer's remorse period for their wireless service contract.
When an iPhone is returned to either AT&T or Apple, there is a restocking fee charged if the package has been opened. The restocking fee is 10% of the original price.

I took both training classes for the phone and half of your information wasn't on the training I took.

Also, there are reports online saying that Steve Jobs says it will come out at 6pm "local time" - whatever that means.

yeah, our retail store is shutting down at 4:30 and we are reopening at 6 pm and staying open until 10. My manager says this is for iphone traffic only but I don't know how we would keep other people out. They loaded this "Iphone vault" into our store today, it is ridiculously huge and very heavy. It is literally a vault for the Iphone. Cracks me up.
