Boasting an innovative dual-sliding, double-keyboard design, the Duo addresses the lifestyle needs of both business customers and consumers. The UMTS/HSDPA-enabled Duo is one of the first devices from AT&T to be powered by the Windows Mobile 6 operating system.

Using the Pantech Duo, customers can enjoy a mobile broadband experience in more than 200 major metropolitan areas across the U.S., featuring average download speeds of 600 Kbps to 1.4 Mbps. Outside the U.S., Customers can access email and other data applications and browse the Web in more than 135 countries, and they can make or receive phone calls in more than 190 countries.

The drop-down QWERTY keyboard is useful for writing email and editing Microsoft Word and Excel documents; the numeric keypad is ideal for sending quick texts and dialing on the run. A flip of the wrist brings users into contact with either keyboard and any mobile need. The lean design houses both keypads and a large color screen that measures only 4.02 inches tall, 1.97 inches wide and 0.83 inches thick.

Dynamic AT&T Mobile Music and CV services let customers manage a variety of multimedia libraries, download and play stereo-quality music, watch popular TV shows and view exclusive content from HBO, MTV, and ESPN, among others, on the handset's 240 x 320 px screen. Also onboard are convenient and widely used features, such as Internet Explorer Mobile, Windows Media Player 10 Mobile and Stereo Bluetooth.

The operating backbone of the Pantech Duo is Windows Mobile 6, which provides users with the familiar look and feel of their desktop computers at home or in the office. Included in the Duo is Office Mobile, so people can view PowerPoint presentations, as well as view and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents. Windows Mobile 6 also delivers the ability to view email messages in their original rich HTML format with live links to Web sites and Microsoft Office SharePoint sites, which means that text and images are displayed as they would be on a Windows PC.

The Duo and all Windows Mobile 6 devices include Microsoft's Direct Push Technology for up-to-date email delivery and automatic synchronization of Outlook calendars, tasks and contacts through Microsoft Exchange Server. The Duo also will support System Center Mobile Device Manager, the comprehensive, enterprise-grade mobile management security and access server at around the time Mobile Device Manager is available in the second quarter of 2008. The product was announced last week by Microsoft at CTIA Wireless I.T. and Entertainment 2007.

In addition to having the ability to take the office on the road, the Pantech Duo provides consumers with methods to stay connected by offering a choice of personal email and messaging options. These include the AT&T Xpress Mail push email service, which supports most popular POP3/IMAP personal email services; instant messaging capabilities; and the ability to send and receive multimedia messages with color videos and photos. Taking productivity one step further, the Duo leverages the unique capabilities of UMTS/HSDPA technology from AT&T, which allows for the simultaneous transmission of voice and data services so that users can make voice calls while sending email or browsing the Web.
