Motorola today introduced its ROKR EM30, a candybar phone that transforms with a touch of a button. Colorful cues let users know which mode they are in. With ModeShift technology, the keyboard illuminates red in Music Mode and blue in Phone Mode.
It is a GSM quad-band phone that supports global roaming. Building upon the success of the ROKR E8, the ROKR EM30 targets mass-market consumers with an improved LCD display, easier keypad navigation and built-in GPS functionality.
A built-in 2.0-megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom snaps high-quality pictures and video. A landscape display provides a better web-browsing.
The ROKR EM30 also offers high-fidelity audio and MP3 downloads. Consumers can find the artist and song playing on the FM radio with Radio Data System (RDS) technology. Listening options include built-in speaker, stereo Bluetooth wireless technology and optional compatible accessories and 3.5mm stereo wired headphones. CrystalTalk technology keeps sounds crisp and clear even in noisy environments.
Compatible with Windows Media Player 11, the ROKR EM30 can download music from more than 200 online music stores worldwide. An 8GB microSD optional removable storage card ensures there is space for songs, while high-speed USB 2.0 technology lets users transfer songs in seconds.
"Following the path of our award-winning ROKR E8, the newest additions to our ROKR family make listening to and discovering new music accessible and affordable for everyone," said Steve Lalla, Corporate Vice President of Motorola Mobile Devices. "From uncovering new music with friends through our FMShare feature to enjoying surround-sound quality audio, these new ROKR phones deliver the music."
The ROKR EM30 is the latest handset to use a Linux-based operating system for mobile devices. It is expected to launch first in Taiwan then in other markets throughout the quarter.
