T-Mobile today launched the T-Mobile G1, the first Google Android-powered mobile phone.
The T-Mobile G1 combines a full touch-screen with a QWERTY keyboard. It offers dozens of Android Market applications and popular Google products such as Google Maps Street View, Gmail and YouTube.
The G1 is the first phone to access Android Market. Users can download a wide range of applications to personalize their phone.
"With new, high-value applications constantly being added to Android Market for customers to discover, the T-Mobile G1 is the phone that grows with you," said Denny Post, Chief Marketing Officer of T-Mobile. "And as the Market continues to grow and evolve, the possibilities are virtually endless."
Beginning today, consumers can purchase the T-Mobile G1 at retail stores and online for $179.99 with a two-year contract.

Better take another look at this phones price tag, they are on back order but you can find them on Ebay going for way inflated prices over 400 buks. I have even seen people selling pre ordered phones for prices I wouldn't pay. Also selling e mail accounts and other stuff, boy what a racket. I have been with T mobile for over three years and have only had one problem, my son lost his phone once (I had insurance through T mobile) and when I asked T mobile to replace it under their insurance "rules" I was informed I did not have insurance, long story short the salesman "forgot" to add it to my program. Well even with that in mind T mobile still replaced the phone at the same cost as the insurance's "deductable". Pretty good customer service if you ask me. Well, I have two G1's on order.
