Sprint today launched a USB modem that lets customers connect a laptop to access its super-fast fourth-generation network.
The company said the new USB Modem U300 will go on sale Sunday in Baltimore, the only market where it currently offers 4G service under the Xohm brand.WiMax can cover an entire city and provide download speeds up to 10 times faster than current 3G networks. Sprint merged its WiMax assets with Clearwire last month. The new company, also called Clearwire, plans to roll out commercial 4G service in Portland in January. By the end of 2009, it will be available to about 60 million people. The company said the USB Modem U300 will sell for $150 with a two-year agreement.
