Sprint, the nation's third-largest wireless carrier, said it would reward existing customers with a $100 referral payment for each new subscriber they bring to the carrier.
The Overland Park, Kan.-based company said existing customers can go to the website and enter the names and email addresses of up to 12 friends -- notifying them how to join Sprint and reward both people.
Once the new subscribers have had active service for 30 days, a $100 Sprint Referral Rewards Visa debit card will be sent to the existing customer for each friend they referred.
The new subscribers will also receive a $25 card.
Both debit cards are accepted wherever Visa cards are accepted.
Sprint has rolled out programs aimed to increase subscription rates after losing 1.3 million subscribers in the fourth quarter last year. Earlier last month it launched its Sprint Premier Customer-Loyalty Program, rewarding loyal customers with perks, privileges and discounts.
