The Federal Communications Commission approved a new smartphone from Sharp, maker of the Sidekick handsets, that features high-speed 3G Internet -- rumored to launch for T-Mobile.
Japanese electronics maker Sharp submitted the PV300 for regulatory approval -- a necessary step to sell the handset in the United States. Sidekick model numbers begin with "PV" but its final product name is still unknown.
The documents confirms the handset's 3G Internet and Bluetooth capabilities. Earlier rumors suspect it also has a 3.2-inch WVGA display, 3.2-megapixel camera, microSD card slot and GPS with turn-by-turn navigation.
Last month, T-Mobile -- the only U.S. carrier to sell the Sidekick -- announced plans to double its high-speed coverage by the end of 2009.
