Samsung Electronics, the world's second-largest mobile phone maker, today unveiled the Galaxy, its first Android-powered smartphone.
Measuring just 11.9mm thick, the Galaxy features a 3.2-inch AMOLED touch screen display, high-speed 7.2Mbps HSDPA Internet and Wi-Fi connectivity.Additional features include 5.0-megapixel camera and 8GB of internal memory. Running on Google's Android operating system, the handset also comes with a host of Google services such as Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Calendar and Google Talk. Integrated GPS lets consumers use Google Maps features like My Location, Google Latitude, Street View, local search and detailed route description. Other applications are available in the Android Market. The Samsung Galaxy will be available in major European countries from June, 2009.
