Nokia, the world's top handset maker, today unveiled the 2720 Fold and 7020 entry-level phones, including the 2730 Classic -- the cheapest 3G phone to date.
The new 2730 Classic has a 2.0-inch QVGA display, 2.0-megapixel camera, Bluetooth and Stereo FM radio. It also comes with Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail for email and will go on sale from the third quarter of this year and is expected to retail for $110.
Smaller competitors plan to sell 3G handsets for less, but this was the cheapest model on the market from any top-tier manufacturer.
The Finnish company's wide range has kept it ahead of its traditional competitors such as Samsung Electronics, but Nokia has lost market share at the top end of the market to rivals like Apple and Research in Motion.
Nokia also announced the 2720 Fold, a clamshell with mirrored shell body with hidden external display, and the 7020, a flip phone that illuminates with light effects when a new call or message is received. The handsets will sell for $75 and $120, respectively.
Nokia said its new 3G phones will target entry-level prepaid users in both developing and developed markets.
